So, you want to hear a story eh? One about treasure hunters? Have I got a story for you!

If it is going to be like ODST then it will suck.

I wouldn't be surprised if the game started with Chief floating towards Reach in the damaged Frigate, triggering a flashback of the events. When the game finishes, we might see a followup to that cutscene.

=)

That I would love.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

How can it be Reach?

All evidence points to the contrary, Reach was glassed so its atmosphere is gone. John could only survive under 80 minutes on the surface because of his oxygen reserves.

Also, the planet has a blue sun. Reach has a red one which we see in the trailer, meaning the former must be artificial whilst the latter is natural.

And how very boring it would be for Bungie's final Halo game (that we know of) to be just a flashback to events that were detailed in a book and which John played no big part in.

You can have a blue sun...

I don't know if you've ever taken an astronomy class before, but Blue suns, along with yellow, red, white, and black are possible. They occur naturally too. You are right about them being different planets I think, but your reasoning is wrong.

Only a single aspec tof my reasoning is wrong, not all of it.

I've never taken astronomy classes before, I have little knowledge in the way of how suns can have different colours.
But from a logical point of view, it can't be Reach.

In the Halo universe, we normally assosiate the sun thing with the Forerunner, as it's clear the planet may have been artificially made by the Forerunners/Precursors.

The Halo REACH Script (post thoughts in thread)

Writing Lead of Whisper Studios. Check out Heron!

Look... I'm on bungiepedia!

The Legendary Ending of Halo 3's planet looks NOTHING like the surface of Reach before it was glassed (trailer, Halo 2), or after it was glassed (you can see structures on the Legendary Ending, rather than a ball of glass).

The stars are different colors, meaning millions-billions of years would have had to pass for the change to have occured, and even then, if the Sun of Reach became a blue giant as in the Halo 3 Legendary Ending it would have swallowed the planet up (like Earth will one day be swallowed by our expanding sun).

The stars in the background do not match up. The stars in the REACH trailer are numerous, as the system is in the middle of the galaxy. The stars in the background of the LEgendary Ending are few and far between - we also see nearby nebulae - meaning it was probably located somewhere on the outskirts of the galaxy, between the Ark and Earth.

P.S. the Chief didn't fight on the ground in the Battle of Reach, so how would he flash back to something he had absolutely no part of?

"You must be mistaken, Reclaimer. I've met your makers, and they don't even know your name..."

I'd like to stomp hard on this theory by reminding everyone the planet in the H3 end trailer was CLEARLY developed and had lights visible from orbit. Reach would be a barren, inhospitable wasteland by that point. Anyone ever play Fallout 3? Kinda like that, except with more ash and less atmosphere.

Signatures are for squares.

It's a prequel. If anything after Halo 3 was involved, it would be a sequel.

That's the argument ender right there.

Master Chief wasn't fighting on the actual Planet of Reach (He was in orbit for like 5 minutes); therefore, he CANNOT have a memory of it, and CANNOT flash back to it.
