Having just finished watching The Duel, I really want to see battles like that in Reach, huge numbers of enamys charging at you and you with two swords do battle. Two swords would make a difference, as you could slash twice as quickly, and you could easely win sword fights. If you have seen The Duel episode then you probely know what I mean. Please discuss.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

An Energy Sword is just about an instant kill weapon, though it would be cool to dual-wield them it's rather redundant.

So, you want to hear a story eh? One about treasure hunters? Have I got a story for you!

I'd support it if we get 2 crosshairs. Then we could fight against multiple people.

Overall all dual wieldable weapons should have seperate reticles

No, that wouldn't really work unless you could move the guns(and reticle) separately from each other. As it is to move and aim the gun you move the entire screen. If you had two reticles and still had to move the entire screen the only way to hit two targets would be if they just happened to be the exact distance apart to be inline with each reticle and if you had to move the screen even a little bit so that 1 reticle was on target it would move the other off target.

So given the fact that we only have two joysticks, 1 for walking and 1 for aiming, you would only ever be able to aim at 1 target at a time. So two reticles would be useless.

Anyone know where/if I can download The Duel on my PC? Xbox is Red-Ringed and I can't watch it.

  • 11.21.2009 7:40 AM PDT

I am a Halo 3 Failure.

I think, a dual wielded sword reticle should be a circle, two of the half circle Sword reticles put together, and if someone was on the right side, the right half would light up, same for the left, and you would lunge according to which side you lunged on. You would either lunge right, or left, however, if both reticles flash for one person, you could do a double slash, which would either a. Use only 5% battery for each sword or b. Use 10% battery for each sword on Overshields (Overshields would then be a two hit kill for a single wielded sword)

Try YouTubing it. I saw The Babysitter on there a few weeks ago.

Not quite true.
You could split reticles, have about a quarter of the screenspace between them and have them both connected to the same stick. Meaning you got two reticles that you can not move independently. Against tougher enemies, this would be useless. However, against a bunch of Grunts or those annoying Buggers, being able to spray 2 SMGs into a tight packed group can be usefull.

This is one of those things I wanted in H3 already. Its like this: why not try it, maybe it works then its cool, if you don't like it, well then don't split your reticles (as I think you should have them combined by default but should be able to split them whenever you want)

Next people will be suggesting dual wielding where each gun is individually controlled by thumb stick :p

Seems pointless and would look very nooby.

No it wouldnt look nooby. You would look like a noob if you think you can get 2 kills at the same time with this system in multiplayer, simply because you can't.
And people are not so stupid that they would suggest controlling 2 reticles individually....they know that wouldn't work.

True, but sometimes it would give you an advantage. Currently the nerfed dual wielding rarely has any advantage.

In campaign you often have lots of enemies right next to each other so it would really speed things up. In MP it would be a lot less use but atleast bigger reticle means it's easier to hit.

I would gladly prefer this. Currently dual wielding is broken and not different enough to be called a full feature.

Now it's "you do 175% damage of 2 weapons and can't throw grenades", which is horrible.

For dual wielding I would also add that I'd like the ability to holster both weapons but lose the space of a few grenades like that.

nice, a good idea the sword don't have to be a instant kill weapon remember people this is Halo Reach so this is the "older" Halo...

some people give opinion about what we've seen in the other games

"sword is instant kill..."

I say no, this is a new game... anything can happen

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

That scene was the only redeeming part of the whole episode. EVERY OTHER PART was WAY too Japanese. And after the Babysitter, I am VERY sick and tired of the Japanese trying to plug their culture into the Halo universe. They really need to learn to keep it to the humans, and I find it obvious they don't have a very great understanding of the Halo universe.

I don't think it would be anymore useful. The benefit you're suggesting is being able to spray bullets across a wider area. However, you can do that now just by moving the reticle back and forth. When you're duel wielding the same amount of bullets are in the air with 1 reticle or 2. Having the bullets' path slightly offset with two reticles really wouldn't make much of a difference than if they had the same path. Another problem would be auto-aim. How would that work? Which reticle would lock on, the right or the left?

Been playing Halo since CE

That was another Elite

And The duel sucked the Elites didn't even have the right head.

  • 11.21.2009 9:59 AM PDT

Yea duel wield Energy swords would be epic. As you know the second Halo Legends to be shown on Halo Waypoint "The Duel" follows the story of the first Arbiter (Fal 'Chavamee) during the Sangheili-San 'Shyuum alliance, when the Covenant Empire was first formed. I won't spoil it. For the Ability to use Two Energy swords in Halo: Reach would be considerably difficult remember "The Duel" was developed by a Japanese Animation Studio so Epic is their main goal so Duel Wield Energy swords is a must have if you can combine it with stunning Ninja moves. But I have figured a way to do it when you pick up a Energy sword you can select another one and use LT for the left Energy sword and RT for the right energy sword plus you could activate a Slow Motion mechanic to allow you to precisely kill mass amounts of enemies Human or Covenant. This option would have to be limited to Single- Player campaign, it wouldn't work with Co-op. Remember the Halo: 3 engine allowed you to see up to 10 miles (16 km) of Three- Dimensional polygons well naturally the Halo: Reach engine will build on the advancements of the previous engine so Epic battles and Massive maps are most likely to happen.

"You know the music. Time to dance."

Would be fantastic to see. I'm definitely in for the idea. Even if it allowed a double swing with each sword, like an immediate thrust right after the first.

We have been raised for combat...
We carry our banner to our fights...
Alone we are a menace, together we are a threat...
Born to raise hell, live to drop back in it...
Never retreat, never surrender... we are spartans.

I think alowing a spartan and elite the ability of using two swords at the same time would definatly be a good add on... like two elites with swords are charging you, you kill one with one sword and the next one you see with the other(not obviously at the same time) or use both on one, it would increase combat proporsions and the coolness factor increased to "epic sword fight", in other words, add the sword fights in halo 3 multiplayer with two swords on each player!
