I was thinking if halo 2 and halo 3 we can be Spartans and Elites but they don't really have any advantages over each other, unless you count Spartans being able to throw equipment out of a Hornet, and the glitch where a sniper goes through an elites head... those don't count.

I think in Reach if we are still able to play as Elites... that Spartans should have an advantage when using human weapons such as Spartan Laser, AR, Pistol, Rocket, Sniper... where as elites should have an advantage when using Swords, Carbine, Plasma Rifle, Beam Rifle, if brutes are playable then they should get an advantage using Brute Plasma Rifle, spiker, mauler, hammer and other brute weapons...

Or if Bungie really goes in depth and makes it so that you can play as marines and Spartans... marines get advantages with light weps... and Spartans have advantages with heavy weps...

Oppinions???

Bringing you lame jokes, social awkwardness and the occasional good idea since 2008

I like the balanced way it is now. The only reason to choose on or the other is mostly just because you like the character model.

Thats actually a pretty cool idea. I know when I play as either a Spartan or Elite, I try to only pick up the race's specific weapons. Its just a little habit of mine ha ha. But yeah this would incorporate a little bit of an RPG element into the game play where the race specific weapons work better in the respective race's hands.

Ya I figured that because that is what they are trained with although marines having an advantage over light weapons probably wouldn't make a lot of sense... unless they add a thing where if a spartan over uses a weapon he breaks it from brute strength??? maybe??? Like in the heat of battle there could be an intensity meter for spartans and if it gets to high the spartan snaps the pistol in two lol???

Feels good to get a Legendary Members positive OP :D

Eh i'm not a fan of this. Cause obviously some maps have power weapons that are mainly human (Look at last resort). And players would all change to humen just to be better. But you shouldn't have to change to do better.

I say keep it the way it is.

Also, it would give it a RPG feel, but its a FPS. No need for the RPG feel. Just wait, in about 5-6 years there will probably be a Halo MMO RPG.

I agree, maps would have to be balanced with this in mind. This would probably lead to a need for an all Spartan team against an all Elite team. This removes choice from it all together, and would mean that human and covenant weapons would need to be balanced. They would also probably have more strict counterparts, which would make the game feel more stale. Like the way nearly every melee weapon in L4D2 acts the EXACT same way.

meh ok I get you there but something I wanted in halo 3 is when Im an elite... to start with a plasma rifle instead of the default assault rife so in a br match I could start with a carbine... like even in the pic it shows the elite holding a plasma rifle... in a sniper match beam rifle... that part could work

or as an idea for buffs... elites can reload a carbine faster... but that might be about it... and spartans can reload a br faster energy weapons wouldn't apply then either

Usually, when a thread starts with "Ok" or "Okay" I don't read it. This was no exception to that standard.

I removed the OK... it amazes me how fickle the world is.... I get what you're trying to say starting a sentence with Ok is considered improper grammar but, in all seriousness I don't mind getting my grammar corrected; but if thats all you are going to do then just don't bother posting... some constructive criticism on the actual post is nice... just because it starts off bad does not make it instantly a failed topic, I will try to start my sentences better...

Why don't you try trying to get past your OCD and read the post... and no one correct me about not knowing what OCD is... I have it...

meh ok I get you there but something...

And I highly doubt you have OCD. It's much less common than people like to think it is. Having a few ticks is not the same as having a disorder. You would KNOW if you had OCD, as would everyone around you. OCD would be if your problems are so extreme that you lie in bed shaking all night because you don't think your shoes are properly lined-up at the door. Do not try to pretend you have OCD, you are just like everyone else.
