I've just watched the new episode of Halo Legends... *minor spoiler* there are some MASSIVE hunters during the fight scene.
they're bigger than elephants! (both the animal and vehicle).

so I was wondering, maybe we'll fight them?

it could fit in the cannon, as long as you find a reason why they were not used later in the war (like : "because of the massive amount of worms without any kind of cybernetics, the collective mind of the hunters gets too dominant and make them extremely aggressive toward allies and enemies alike. because of the heavy loss they afflicted on their own allies, the omega hunters (lets call them this way) were never used again").

they'd be like super anti vehicle covenants, or mini bosses or I dunno...

if a random forum guy can come up with this, surely a professional studio can too. what do you think?

I watched "The Duel" earlier and I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. Are you suggesting this to be implemented into Halo: Reach if so I Semi-Support you but I don't remember Humongous Hunters at "The Fall of Reach"

Edit: Good idea though

Why are you reading my signature? Who actually opens these things and reads them!

And as always, SEND ME A PM. Please. Or really bad things will happen to you.

I think the enormous size was put in to emphasize their strength, similar to how the Spartan in "the babysitter" becomes much larger when throwing the Drop-pod. It's something that many animes do.

yes if u see one of these ur scorpion will look like a toy.as for the mongoose...huh what is this ant lets step on it

good idea though

Well some spartans were killed by a hunter, it is probely more likely that that hunter was huge, I cant see a normal hunter killing a spartan.

you're probably right... but it'd still be fun imo :)
(it can't be worse than the fight with guilty spark from H3 or tartarus from H2...)

Including a Gigantic Hunter into Halo: Reach will be awesome.

Edit: It could replace the Scarab as a boss unit

This can actually happen, since Hunters are colony organisms. Instead of having two seperate Hunters, you can have one large one that is heavily armored.

No because there is a Hunter that Fel fights on "The Duel" that is regular size in fact there is three of them. There is only one Gigantic Hunter Fel kills.

watch the episode again : they are all the same size. but they only show the death of one hunter for better climax .

  • 11.21.2009 12:46 PM PDT

Yea sorry about that I have changed my post if you look. I just watched it then and yes your right.

  • 11.21.2009 12:47 PM PDT

People seem to forget that Scarabs are actually big Hunters anyway.
I'd like a unit in between the two personally, maybe like the Locust from Halo wars, but Mgalekgolo-controlled.

I want Halo 3 back how it was.

I've wanted giant black hunters for a long time! But they don't have Assault Canons. Clubs. Big metal clubs, that's right. Metal Clubs on fifty foot Hunters...

uh... NO scarabs are not hunters. In halo2 when you assult the scarab their are two pilots driving the scarab inside.

Yes. Hunters ARE just basically huge colonies of worms. What's stopping them from just getting more worms in to a larger suit of armour?

Heck, the Hunters need SOMETHING to make them intimidating, dangerous foes.

We have been raised for combat...
We carry our banner to our fights...
Alone we are a menace, together we are a threat...
Born to raise hell, live to drop back in it...
Never retreat, never surrender... we are spartans.

Maybe not the crazed huge kind, but I liked how ODST expanded the Hunter base. Maybe something like this?

Blue: Fuel rod "beam"
Gold: Fuel rod "blast"
Red: Needler round?
White: Energy Sword. BANZAI HUNTERS!

oh, and how do you kill scarabs in halo 3? do you ... hum.. kill the drivers? or do you shoot the brain of the worm colony, and making it bleed a lot?
also, go in assembly, and look at the scenery. one of the 2 bases assembles the hunter worms before injecting them to the armor.

you must not understand how powerful hunters really are then. the only reason the spartans went hand to hand vs the hunters is because they were too close and low on ammo. if im correct 2-3 spartans died in the encounter and one was critically wounded.
