Subject: What about the rocket?

OK. So the rocket has become a sort of a side weapon on some maps, like Standoff, where the Spartan Laser is dominant. Everybody who's played halo 3 knows that Spartan lasers are better for taking down vehicals than rockets.
EX: Let's say you're on Standoff. Those 50s on the other team have in possession a warthog and the laser, and you're just left with your rocket. But! Oh no! Your rockets miss and now you have to hide for the rest of the game. :(

I have a solution. Two different rockets. Yes. Two.

One like the halo 3 rocket for close quarters games like the pit.
One like the halo 2 rocket for medium to large sized maps where vehicles are a dominant force. The zoom would be able to target vehicles for lock on like the distance from where the zoom of a halo 3 br can target an enemy. Fair distance eh??

This is just my opinion. Tell me what you think about it. Be nice though... no name calling. Everything else is legal in my book though.

EDIT-- could be like this? Props dude
1) A regular Rocket Launcher, has high splash damage, can hold 12 rockets in reserve.

2) A Halo 2 like Rocket Launcher, can lock onto vehicles, Rockets moves faster than the other one, more powerful but with a smaller splash damge area, can hold 6 Rockets (or Missles) in reserve. To replace the Missle Pod (which sucks ass, only good against aircraft).

Also it has been suggested to just have the lock on rocket for all maps... Another plausible idea

Halo 3: ODST = $30

Good idea for balance.

yes but not a super vehicle lock something like an auto aim that a good warthog driver can dodge.not something like the rocket haunts u for the rest of the game

It seems to me like making the two types of rockets would be useless. Since there won't be any vehicles to lock onto in a smaller map, why not just use the same rocket for both?

It seems like they're the same besides the fact that one can lock-on.

Exactly! Let me mention sandbox really quick... Did you notice how there is a regular hornet AND a transport hornet?? They are the same thing... but one just does more things.

I think there should be two Rocket Launcher models,

1) A regular Rocket Launcher, has high splash damage, can hold 12 rockets in reserve.

2) A Halo 2 like Rocket Launcher, can lock onto vehicles, Rockets moves faster than the other one, more powerful but with a smaller splash damge area, can hold 6 Rockets (or Missles) in reserve. To replace the Missle Pod (which sucks ass, only good against aircraft).

The green Attack Hornet has both two rapid firing machine guns, can fire two heat seeking missles, and can carry two players.

The light gray Transprt Hornet is identical, but has no missles, has a slower rate of fire on the machine guns, but can move faster the the attack varient, thus making it a very good Transport.

Yeah, but you only need one model in this instance. You wouldn't be able to lock onto anything in a small map anyways, so why not use the lock-on rockets for both small and large maps?

I see what you're saying now. Sorry for being thickheaded. Also a good idea.

they already did a lock/no lock on system its called the missile pod... the rocket wont lock on but the missile pod will i know it sucks because the missile pod is like 1/2 as strong but i think its a good balance and it allows good drivers/pilots to dodge them and is not a 1 shot 1 kill thing
