Within the FoR novel, Chief Mendez is one of the coolest central characters and wouldn't it be amazing if they somehow worked him into the story somehow, even if it just was a little cameo. How about if your playing as Fred the leader of red team or whatnot, and your in the pelican speeding to the surface of reach when it gets hit and crashes on the surface while landing. As your groggy and finding your feet (unoriginal I know) the cutscene skips back to when your just six years old or something and Chief Mendez is there, and you have to run through the 'playground' with all the other spartan children. this would be a great way to stage a cool tutorial level, instead of the usual stand on the spot and look at the lights, whilst giving us a look at John, Sam and Kelly etc whilst they were children. This would be especially great as it would demonstrate the sense of family between the spartans, so that when they're fighting alongside you in the campaign you feel the closeness and need to protect them. And if they die it actually means something, like losing sergeant johnson all over again.

I would like to see him there too, maybe we will get to know what he was doing specifically.

I say Mendez and Johnson should team up and have some good ol' Spartan I awesomeness.

"You must be mistaken, Reclaimer. I've met your makers, and they don't even know your name..."

It'd be nice to see some of the book characters. People like Dr. Halsey and Chief Mendez are integral to the story. But I would like to break off and have a whole new crop of characters too.

That's what I mean it's way more interesting fighting alongside characters you want to protect as opposed to just the nameless, faceless pieces of cannon fodder the marines are atm.
