Yea if this was about the whole package I would have talked about every H2 map being epic, so don't worry mate ;)
I think I can best describe it this way, how I like the campaigns of the Halos.
CE:
- Best leveldesign
- Very well told story
- Story easy to understand
- Campaign feels grand, overwhelming almost.
H2:
- level design is average
- Arbiter side of the story is great (but sometimes the execution of the idea was a bit flawed)
- Story is not as easy to understand anymore, BUT: it brings in a lot more depth to it all. Story is far more interesting than before.
- This campaign screams: EPIC!
H3:
- level design is sometimes bad (Floodgate/Cortana) and sometimes nearly as good as CE's levels (The Covenant/The Ark)
- taking away the Arbiter as a playable character undermined the whole bigger picture sketched in H2.
- Story lacks in delivery, many cutscenes are far too non-narrative. From the start you know what to expect.
- Campaign feels old, been there done that. Its good...but not what we wanted it to be. Where are my epic fights for Earth? Underwhelming.
ODST:
- leveldesign is average
- story is better than expected, nice and simple.
- Campaign feels...short but good.
I concider Halo CE to be like SW: A New Hope. It introduces us to the world, shows the villains, takes mainly place in 1 location (Halo installation - Death Star) and wraps up neatly. H2 is like Empire Strikes Back: Bigger, explains more, takes place in more locations, cliffhanger but damn its awesome!
