Has anyone ever noticed on xbox connect that you suck, but when you play at lan parties your a god? I always win at lan parties, i ve never lost. I can say im really good (normally win by like 8 kills at least) thanks to my mentor predator from hb who i havent played since he introduced me to halo. Ive played a lot of people and been to lots of lan parties, samething every time.
I wanted to see if it was just the people i was playing so I did the xbox connect thing and I dominated in some games, and got my ass beat in others. I joined one guys game and he beat me by a few kills, and a few days later when I asked for a rematch and hosted I skull -blam!- him by 20 kills. I ve noticed that in some games you die before you even hear a shot or see anything sometimes your dead and never hear or see a shot and the guys right in front of you. big problems also come when your sniping, in a lan party you would have got him but on xbc it seems to hit him but causes no dmg.
I wonder what can be done to stop this on halo 2? Is xbox live not as laggy as xbc? does anyone do both? I wonder because if this happns to halo2 how would you ever know if your any good if your held back by lag? are there gonna be east and west servers or something like that?

I don't know the terms and reasons for the lag, but I do know that XBC is a shaky system, and is nothing compared to Xbox Live

I wish I could talk on this more; I'm sure a lot of people know more than I do about this; the point is, don't worry. Xbox Live is nothing like XBC -- not at all

It´s a quite simple thing. Halo was created for playing Multiplayer on One Xbox or in LAN-Matches. LAN means Local Area Network, so you can say the Xbox ´s are normally just a few meters away from each others. I think it will work up to 130meters without a repeater.
But what I want to say: The netcode from Halo was made for quite short distance and not for playing with guys from another city or country (or Continent). Thats why it is sometimes very laggy!! And one thing you must know about XBConnect. To beat a host, ist much more difficult than beat a Joiner!! It has to do with Ping-Times, but thats another Theme!

All I can say is, that the Halo 2 Netcode will be so perfect (I hope so) that you mean your Teammates or Opponnents are sitting behind you!!

Excuse my very bad english!!

No way Halo 2's multiplayer is supposed to be really good. I read that when you sign on its supposed to look for connections that are closest to yours. Plus when you think about it XBC wasn't what Halo was made for. As the nice gentlemen before me stated it was only made for so far. But wasn't made for ONLINE play at all. I know how you feel when your playing a Lan party and your the Alpha Male in your pack. I got Xbox live and I can't tell you how much I really like it. If you wait to see the connection speed first your almost always gonna have a good game. I play Halo PC alot cause HALO is my favorite game of all time (much like yourselfs) but PC play can't add up for Xbox lives performance. When I play PC i get ripped off really bad just like you

But with Xbox live its almost always good. So dont fret its all good. Plus if you still don't like the connection you can also do a Lan party with 6 xbox's.... or so I've heard.

Your not a god of Halo is you only win by 8 kills. I go by double everyone elses kills, if you try for this you'll get much better. Usually in CTFs I average 175 to 250 kills per game. That's not what the thread's about though, I think it will be great online, I just hope I have DSL by then.

the game on xbl will be fine. On the Pc version you play online and the game is still good what make you think it will be worse.

Halo 2 will pretty much be the posterboy for Xbox Live gaming I think. The original Halo didn't have good online play because of what other people said, it wasn't meant to be played online - just on a LAN. Bungie is putting crazy amounts of effort into the technical aspects of multiplayer. I'm betting on an extremely smooth experience on Xbox Live. I use both services, and Live performs much better than XBC.

SINCE XB-Connect isn't the official online service i can see it might SUCK on H2, but H2, albeit a bigger game will run faster/smoother than H1

just go get live dont use unoficial connect stuff

Also if connection is what you are complaining about well bungie has been finding ways to use xbox's graphics to its highest potential not to mention technoledgey used to make it less lagish.
