1. Graphics card not up to scrath or not got latest drivers
2. Processor to slow or not got enough RAM

or the game could be buggy. Does your computer meet the games reccomended requirements?

If you don't know what your graphics card is then I doubt you have one that can handle the game. All you have to do is right click on your desktop, click properties, click on settings, and it will tell you what graphics card you have under "display."

Well that's it right there. An incredibly old card. No way you'll be able to play Halo with that. I'm guessing your ram and processor aren't too great either. You can find that by going to Control Panel, Performance and Maintenance, and then System.

yeah, it's the video card. Usually the processors have nothing to do with it. Believe me, i know this from experience. I've got this game that requires a lesser processor than mine, and it still gets a little choppy.

Get a GeForce 4 MX4000 or higher. Those and any GeForce higher than a 4000 are better than an ATI 9x00, and they play halo very well. :)

Those bloody russian cards. Nvidia is known to have some sort of problem with halo.

If you want to play the game you can get nvidia cards up to the 5200. That will allow you to play with very minimal settings. The more money you spend generaly makes things go smoother. I am assuming you have an AGP slot, so an nvidia 5700 up will let you play well with settings on.
