Subject: How can Bungie appeal to Machinima creators?

Machinima.com. A site, pretty much based on Halo 3 at this point. Sure, a little bit of WOW, a couple Valve games, but for the most part the majority comes from Halo 3.

While Halo 3 obviously was a huge step in the direction for this, there's still room for improvement. So what then?

Here's some obviously ones
- Improved functionality
Allow rewinding of clips more easily.
Allow skipping by larger increments of time
- Forge 2.0

There is nothing wrong with Halo:Reach. We all just have our gripes about everything we don't like. Not liking something doesn't make it broken.

It'd be nice if some better locations were added too.

I don't Machinimate, but I understand a huge amount of the process and I know what would make a scene great.

Halo 3 has no 'Human city' in it. A real shame as that could have been handy in a great many cases, I've seen a few shorts myself that could have benefited from having better 'Human' themed sights then 'Ghost town' and 'High Ground' and ect...

It isn't that those places sucked, it is just that for a game that is so 'Machinima friendly' they did not really gift the machinimators the whole nine yards in map variation.

It would be nice to have a Human City and maybe a good Medium sized map similar to Epitaph. A serious forerunner feel. Maybe set partially underground like Isolation, but minus the flood feel. MOAR Forerunner is good.

IT's all about allowing us all to have a chance at every theme we could need.

Halo 3 (31st), ODST (14th) and Reach (4th) Mythic Conqueror. (Mythic is Solo, Legendary, All skulls on + scoring on and no deaths/saves).

-tilt, variable zoom
-camera effects
-focus,
-sepia
-saturation
-colour spectrum
-brightness
-contrast
-film grain
-misc effects like 'pen and ink' etc.

all of the above would be slider values, not absolute on/off. If you've ever used the photo mode in PGR you'll know what I'm getting at.







Just as a general comment: Bungie is already a generation ahead in terms of creating tools for Machinima makers to use than most other companies, which is why its so popular for Machinima.

ODST;MYTHIC Screenshot winner! One of the first to get their hands on the mythic map pack.

They shouldn't appeal to Machinima creators. Their first and foremost responsibility/goal should be to make an amazing game, amazing campaign and amazing multi-player with amazing extra things like forge and what not. They should not focus on machinima features. Yeah, add some things in at the end, cool, like they added a lower gun feature, and a pan-cam feature and all that. Add those things, make them more accessible, but don't focus on it.

No. They explained back then that the AI just wouldn't work properly in any scenario. The Multiplayer works differently then the Campaign. Different system of making things work.

I couldn't explain it, but I can certainly tell you it is an impossibility.

Even if its not the main focus, and it shouldn't be, I agree, it still needs to be considered right at the start of the project (especially with something as large as a game) so they can plan for it and its feature etc.

They can't simply "add it at the end"
