Black Friday is tomorrow. You can get it at several places for $40 or less. At that point, its absolutely worth it. At full price, it depends on what you play Halo for and if you have a set of friends to consistently play with.

The universe is probably littered with the one-planet graves of cultures which made the sensible economic decision that there's no good reason to go into space--each discovered, studied, and remembered by the ones who made the irrational decision.

I quit playing the game a week after release, it just had no replay value and firefight got very repetitive very quickly

QFT

I also wish to add to this comment, that it becomes impossible to set up firefight matches since there is no MM, and without friends it can take up to 40 minutes for someone to set up a match. I won't sell back ODST because I still am a fan of Bungie, but this game is a bit of a let down.

Its not worth buying believe me. Overpriced DLC is what it is.

Playing well if your a Halo fan, Yeah can get around 4 hours of enjoyment. Yes thats how long it is, Firefight is fun, but once you get 1000/1000 you will never play it again. EVER. So boring game. Go play MW2 instead for now, as ODLC is biggest fail this year, even the worst Halo game ever. Evident go look at metacritic. LOWEST Halo rated game ever.

Average thats all. If it was DLC, but this game is fail, don't buy, buy it when its $15 or somthing and just about when Halo Reach Beta comes out. Dont waste your money on this biggest scam and dissapointment of the year, which robbed Loyal Halo fans, with same maps again and expansion pack content and blind ignorant fans, which they don't even know.

True i got 1000/1000 no need to touch this game ever again until Halo Reach Beta, thats how bad it is, the BETA IS MORE WORHTY.

ODST was the biggest waste of $60.

Zombie? What are you!? Racist? Its called "living impaired" you idiot!

Waste? I think not. Plus, the campaign was made to be a solo experience.

And nobody can tell you if the game is worth it or not as that is inherently biased. Make up your own mind on what your willing to spend your money on. If you feel it might be worth it then buy it. If your not sure then rent it. If you dont want to spend the money then dont. Simple as that.

Most intelligent statement made in this thread so far. I tip my hat to you!

I got mine with giftcards so eitherway im in the clear lol... and im one of those people who already had all the halo 3 maps (dlc ones i mean) but now i can play them when i take my xbox to friends houses and system link it to theirs with the mythic disk (that probably didnt make sense... but w/e)

Endless hours? Haha I beg to differ. Sure its fun for the first few times but I grew bored of it very quickly.

As with the campaign? It was was mediocre at best to me.

I would get it only if you can find it for $40 or less. If you don't mind waiting, you'll probably be able to get it cheap around the time of the Reach beta next spring.

No.

I found ODST to be fun. For about a week. I haven't touched it since early October. If you can get it for a low price and think it's worth about a week of playtime, go for it.

Though a complete joke length-wise, the campaign was fairly good and helped show what Earth did to try to hold off the Covenant. Firefight, however, is dead. Don't expect to find many players.

  • 11.27.2009 12:21 PM PDT

It is a very good buy in my opinion. I actually borrowed it from a friend, but I actually do plan on buying it when I give it back. Like, the campaign is short for what you could expect, but heck if you like challenges then, legendary will keep you busy. The firefight is very fun, but make sure you round up a couple friends to play it on the higher difficulties, otherwise, its impossible. If you're an achievement hunter then, that should keep you very busy too. The thing is, they should have launched the 2nd mythic map pack to the market place and what not. Then with the purchase of ODST you would get a token for free download on the halo mythic map pack 2. But, sadly, we all know what they're doing. Even though its kinda failing, I think bungle is just trying to make you buy a much pricier way of getting the 2nd mythic. Then, when they get bored of playing that game, they'll put it on for DLC.. kinda sad, because Halo Wars came with the first mythic pack, then like a month later maybe less, the pack went on for DLC.. So, I dunno.. it depends on why you want ODST. If you want EVERYTHING that comes with the game, then Yes, its a very good buy.. but if you're just in it for the multiplayer experience, then there.. it'll all depend on how much you like Halo 3's original multiplayer. Try to borrow it if you can, Im sure you'll decide there, because yes, I'm telling you that under all the hate people give the price tag.. its actually a good buy, but Im not you, so thats why Im recommending you borrow, or rent to see if you like it. ;)

Well, that about covers it.

It really depends on what you want. ODST was a pretty good campaign (Be sure you play on Heroic if you're a Halo 3 veteran), but it was rather short. It took me about 6-7 to beat on Heroic for the first time, but it was enjoyable.

One thing that Halo has always been to me is what good co-op shooters they all have been, and ODST is no exception. You can play through the entire ODST campaign on 2 player splitscreen, 4 player over Live or system link (Same goes for Firefight). I've only been able to play a little of Firefight, but it was alot of fun, especially with others. But make sure you have friends to play this with, there's no matchmaking or game finding feature with campaign or Firefight sadly.

The second ODST disc is Halo 3's traditional multiplayer with all DLC released and 3 exclusive maps for ODST. I personally didn't think the 3 new maps were that exciting (That's just my opinion), but if you haven't purchased any of the premium DLC for Halo 3 so far, you'll be getting a better value than those who already did.

Ultimately, if you have people to play ODST with, you'll have fun. Try renting it if you're still on the fence about buying it or not.
