The game itself was fun, and worthwhile in the long-run because of the multiplayer disc, yet you should decide whether or not you want it by yourself. It was probably only created to fill in the gap inbetween halo 3 and and halo reach, and to conclude the multiplayer, but it was still enjoyable.

No. I played it for two weeks and haven't touched it since.

I'm personaly going to say "Yes" if you love to play campaign i would suggest getting this, it really fells like your playing as an ODST, especialy when you hear the other ODST talk, it doesn't feel like your a spartan, especialy when you jump around, its like 1/3rd of the hieght you normaly jump in Halo 3. Although i would have to say no if you have a good BR in halo 3, the Auto mag and really screw your BR up if you play for long enought. It's also worth buying since you pretty much get a brand new Halo 3 disc, although it doesn't have the Campaign option, its practically 2 games for aprox 60$. Besides 60$ is a days work, free 2 games. It's totaly worth it.

I sold my xbox and Halo 3 awhile ago, but I'm getting an xbox here in 2 months. With ODST, I don't have to buy H3 again, as all the maps are on the one disc. Campaign is pretty fun and I like the shorter missions as opposed to H3's missions. Firefight and all the achievements give you a lot to play around with. If you have H3 and don't care about the Mythic maps, don't bother with ODST, but it's not a bad buy for me or if you don't have H3. If the price drops to 30-40 bucks, pick it up, but it's not a $60 title with all its redundancy.

[EDIT] One thing I was very disappointed with was the lack of weaponry. A pistol and SMG, really? Sure, you can pick other stuff up, but they didn't really put too much extra thought into the game.

WARNING:
People reading this may be subject to losing the game.

60 bucks is a little much
40-45 is worth it though

Like halo games
like shooter games

firefight is good good get better
campaign alright

  • 11.28.2009 5:29 PM PDT

My Best Bungie moment: finally beating all the Halo games on solo legendary.
My Worst Bungie moment: not seeing giant stuffie grunts in the Bungie store.

It is worth RENTING and playing, the campaign gets old after the third play through, Firefight has no live, so you might as well just play it at a friend's house, and the MP disk is just part of Halo 3.

The only way that buying this game would be getting your money's worth, would be if you don't own Halo 3 yet.

Don't take life too seriously, no one gets out alive anyway.

Australia

If your an Avid Halo3 Fan and want all those maps....YES
If not=RENT

And nobody can tell you if the game is worth it or not as that is inherently biased. Make up your own mind on what your willing to spend your money on. If you feel it might be worth it then buy it. If your not sure then rent it. If you dont want to spend the money then dont. Simple as that.

Most intelligent statement made in this thread so far. I tip my hat to you!

So, you'd rather just put up with it, instead of the game having a fair price? Yes, I see the intelligence! How much was gas again?

Define fair price. Your fair price will always be inherently biased because its for you only.

To put things in their simplest terms, ODST has enough content to warrent the $60 price tag.

The consumers themselves valued the DLC for Halo 3 multiplayer at nearly $30 all on its own. Is Bungie to blame for that? Is Microsoft? Not a chance. If you didnt want to pay that much you didnt have to. Yet alot of you did so the value stuck.

You are getting a bloody bargen if you ask me. A brand new campaign as well as a great Co-op mode along with that previously mentioned Halo 3 multiplayer.

The consumers themselves have valued such material at that price.

So yes I will say get over it.

You are never forced to buy a companies product. It is a personal choice. One that you always take a chance at. That what you get when you deal with the market. If you dont like it then dont spend any money. You always have that option.

Bring up gas is just another easy issue to solve.

If your not happy or cant afford it there are many other modes of transportation.

1: Walk or bike
2: Take a bus
3: Car pool

And you know if you value your petroleum products so much then it is worth the price anyways.

In any case get over it. Your still making a consumers choice and you will always have the option of not spending the money on it.

If I buy it where would I beable to buy at a low price. Or would it be better just to rent it for a week or so?

NOT WORTH IT
No offense bungie but in your terra incognita video, that one guy with the glasses said that if they had 2 more weeks to work on the game he didnt know what they would do. Well Bungie there is a LOT more you could do! Maybe start with adding a ADS and more realistic EVERYTHING. The silenced smg SUCKED I play on heroic and legendary and it takes a LOT of bullets to kill a Brute. Firefight is BORING. Odst was no different from halo 3. The campaign was BAD no vehicles except for ghosts and mongooses in the city and flashbacks were not so impressive. You still are a walking tank and this game no more tactical than My Little Pony! The A.I teammates you get cant even shoot grunts.
BUNGIE WHAT DID YOU CHANGE?

If you don't already have Halo 3, then it's a good buy, but if you are like most people whom purchased this game and already owned Halo 3, you'll be getting ripped off a bit.

I have Halo 3 and ODST was still a great purchase for me.

I dont care if you already have the DLC, you as the consumer (talking about everybody here) have valued all that DLC at around 20$-30$. Why should they not continue to sell that product at that price?

Its like going to McDonalds and buying a Cheeseburger and then going up to the counter again and asking for another Cheeseburger but this time with extra pickels. Your still going to have to pay for the whole thing instead of just the pickels even though you had already paid for an whole other Cheeseburger.

It is basicly the same thing here. Get over it already.

And nobody can tell you if the game is worth it or not as that is inherently biased. Make up your own mind on what your willing to spend your money on. If you feel it might be worth it then buy it. If your not sure then rent it. If you dont want to spend the money then dont. Simple as that.

I think your analogy is close, but it's a bit off.

For people that already bought the Halo 3 DLC, the analogy of the cheeseburger goes more like this:

If you already bought all the Halo 3 DLC (went to McDonalds and bought a cheeseburger), then buying ODST is like buying another cheeseburger with pickles, but only receiving the pickles, not the cheeseburger. Since we already have the Halo 3 DLC (the cheeseburger), buying ODST is like paying for another cheeseburger, but only getting the pickles (because unlike buying two cheeseburgers, I don't enjoy buying the same maps twice.)

I'm not saying that buying ODST is a bad purchase, because the analogy above is only looking at the the purchase of the maps, not everythig else in the game (i.e. the new campaign, firefight, etc.)

My personal opinion on the game though is if you already have all the Halo 3 DLC maps, and you don't have ODST yet, then you should wait a few months (or until the price drops) on buying this game, because you'll be paying for the same maps twice.
