Yes. But the ignorant people that say that they will never touch ODST again WILL because the Reach Beta is coming up. If you ask them why they touched ODST again, they will say "Well what do think I'm going to do? Not play the beta? That's stupid."

Idiots.

Only for the Reach Beta (and Halo 3 multiplayer if you're still into that).

I want to try the game, I'll probably rent it or something like that for a week or two. If it's good and worth buying then mabye I will go get it but from what I heard it's crap since I already played Halo 3.

I dont care if you already have the DLC, you as the consumer (talking about everybody here) have valued all that DLC at around 20$-30$. Why should they not continue to sell that product at that price?

Its like going to McDonalds and buying a Cheeseburger and then going up to the counter again and asking for another Cheeseburger but this time with extra pickels. Your still going to have to pay for the whole thing instead of just the pickels even though you had already paid for an whole other Cheeseburger.

How does your mind even keep you breathing?!?!

So, does this mean that every time you get 'hungry' for a game you go out and buy another copy of that cheeseburger.
Let me guess - noooo, fail.

Plus even if you want to use this arguement, McDonalds dont grab the contents you already paid for with the first burger (the DLC maps you already had) and stuff it into the second burger and charge you all over again.
And then blackmail you into buying that second burger otherwise you can play (restricted playlists - the odst mythic, not the dlc mythic).

Fail.

Uh...

It is and it isn't in a way.
The campaign was short, and sweet, but a bit confusing and really messed with the Halo story as it is, but Bungie managed to make it roll through fluently and make it every bit as breathtaking as Halo 3 was.
As for multiplayer, although there isn't MM for Firefight, everyone can get over that because seriously, that's like adding an expansion to GTA: San Andreas on the original 'box and trying to make it compatible with Xbox LIVE features, also it's hella annoying for all the Xbox LIVE processing Bungie has to do, registration, etc etc. just to get it up there.
And then finally the actual multiplayer maps, I thought were the biggest let down of the fantastic game, as it really seemed I was paying maybe $25.00 more for the same stuff, save 3 extra maps. I can see where people are saying "It's like buying a hamburger, you're still paying for the second hamburger", but this isn't consumer, we don't actually eat these maps. Here's a better example of that,
Buying ODST after already buying all the expansion maps for Halo 3 is like buying a second TV, this time in HD, for a 1 room apartment. It seems like a good idea, but really the first (SD) TV is just insurance in case your second TV dies, as it really isn't useful after you've found all those extra pixels.
See how one becomes unused, and yet you payed a price for both of these appliances?

Bottom line, campaign was really good, Firefight was really good (but no Matchmaking) and multiplayer was if you haven't bought any of the new maps, as it sort of devalues the game (in a metaphorical, personalized sense) if you already own the previous DLC ON Halo 3.

Hello! I'm a male!

This game is not worth buying unless you want to buy the same game you already bought again or you love to get achievements. Halo 3: ODST is Halo 3 except you are an ODST not a spartan. As the ODST you have a "stamina" thing that is exactly like the energy shield. Recharges and everything. The main two differences is no duel wielding and ODST has a health bar. Also if you are in for just the achievements and then ODST has it's own achievements plus the ones you get for the 3 maps the mythic disc has that aren't on the market place. So yea for me this game wasn't worth my money. I wish I could go back in time and stop myself from ever getting it.

"BAM" said the lady...

This is my 3 cents.
ODST in my eyes is a good game, almost no-one will argue that it isn't a good game. It's got a good story if you want to know more/are(is?) interested in the halo story. The campaign might be a little short but the free roam you get kinda makes up for it. The lack of matchmaking might dull down the game a little if you got no-one else you know that owns the game and is willing to play with you.
Firefight can sometimes be incredibly boring. And then sometimes it's incredibly amusing! :D (off-topic I just played 30min of solo firefight and it's the most fun I've had in a game for a while) The maps for halo:3 makes it worth it's price if you don't already own all the DLC for Halo:3. Tho if you already do you still get 3 extra maps. Good maps.
And let's not forget the halo:reach mutliplayer beta which is coming up sometime this spring.

My post might be confusing but I'll break it down here:
Campaign: Little short, tho challenging and interesting.
Firefight: Fun with friends, fun alone. Boring sometimes.
Halo 3 maps: Worth their price
Halo:Reach beta: You have ODST, you will play this.

Hope it helps :)

Hey that isn't three cents that's a nickel (five cents). Oh and that phrase is two cents. Also I got done with the game within the first week. Wasn't a challenge and I had all my achievements by then. Also before you say anything I do have a joba nd when ODST came out I had an awesome GF. She just dumped me yesterday ='( </3

I saw that my brother rented the game a few days ago and I tried it and I don't really like it. Only good about it is the Firefight, but thats about it.

To me, it definitely was worth it, and still is.

As some others have said before, I can point out that I'm playing this game (i.e. ODST Campaign and Firefight) way more than other full titles I purchased before. That alone makes it worth it for me.

Now, experiences and tastes do vary. Others will have other points of view, and that's fine. That, however, doesn't make my enjoyment of the game any lesser, nor my point any less valid as they pertain to my own experiences, tastes and entertainment.

In the end, it all depends what you are searching for when contemplating the purchase of ODST. If you just want the Mythic map pack, chances are you'd be happier just purchasing the map pack off the marketplace. If Halo is all about Matchmaking for you, chances are the lack of a matchmaking system in Firefight or Campaign will be a bummer.

If you like Halo Campaigns, like the story, like playing Co-op, like the opportunity to fight wave after wave of Covenant scum for a change of pace from Matchmaking, like the opportunity to play something else than a Spartan in the Halo universe, then you're in for a huge treat.

I know I was.

Your point being? I've beaten this game in 6 hours on Legendary, but I also replayed it entirely something like 5 or 6 times already, plus the occasional mission here and there, plus fooling around in the streets at night, just looking at stuff, making up scenarios in my head, and so on, so forth. I know I'm not the only one doing this.

Just how much entertainment you get from the Campaign is up to you, your tastes and inclinations. I know it's very entertaining. To me.

I would probably just rent it for the Halo: Reach beta. Use Gamefly.

Buy the maps on the market place.

Which would actually be easier (and cheaper) than buying the game. That's if you buy the points from your house.

Where's the option
Yes, IF you don't own halo 3 or have no dlc maps
No, if you own halo 3 or have the dlc maps
And Reach beta of course.

I think it's a logic most can appreciate.
There are exceptions, however. I do own Halo 3, bought all DLCs prior to ODST, still bought the latter and found that I had my money's worth and beyond.

The game itself (Campaign and Firefight) already provided me with hours upon hours of entertainment, and I still find it fun to play (just like I still find Halo CE, Halo 2 and Halo 3's Campaigns hugely fun to play again and again, BTW).
