btw would $500-1000 laptop be able to play world of warcraft or would i have to turn down the settings?

Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time. I know who you are. You are destiny.

The laptop will absolutely run Halo PC fine; I'm pretty sure it won't have many issues with WoW either, but I can't promise you anything in terms of Halo 2 Vista. I would suggest a desktop computer with Windows XP or 7 rather than a laptop, but that's me anyways. Also, if you love them, make sure you don't waste your parents' hard spent money on Halo 2 Vista.

Theres quite a big difference between a $500 laptop and a $1000 laptop. which one?

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

Exactly. I saw two Asus laptops side-by-side in Best Buy. The $500 one seemed comparable to a mainstream OEM, whereas the $1000 has a 1GB nVidia dedicated chip and another 2 gigs of RAM.

That kind of range really is the difference between barely running games and handling anything you can throw at it.

any laptop in upper hundreds range is something my parents will get. hopefully. the computer i have now is from the year 1999 and was only upgraded once, some extra memory.

its not a big deal that i play halo 2 on the pc considering theres still a decent amount of people playing it for the xbox. i just want the ability to make my own maps and i would have no problem playing halo 2 pc on very low settings as long as the frame rate isnt absolute crap.

Here is a link to a list of the nvidia "m" series graphic cards: http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_m_series.html

I don't know what you prefer (ATI or nvidia) but all the laptops that I've recommended have nvidia cards.

i dont know what nvidia or ati is or what the difference is. i just hope the amount of money spent reflects the quality of the machine.

Don't worry, the American index of value is the price of an item.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Asus+-+Laptop+with+Intel%26%23174 %3B+Core%26%23153%3B2+Duo+Processor+-+Blue/Black/9556072.p?id =1218124204092&skuId=9556072

this one is $50 but you get a bit more for your more but it is over $1000($1049)
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Gateway+-+FX+Edition+Laptop+with+ Intel%26%23174%3B+Centrino%26%23174%3B+2+Processor+Technology /9605365.p?id=1218130485627&skuId=9605365

both of these are much faster than the lenovo when it comes to games and are the same in everything else.

The Asus link is broken, but that Gateway made me skeet-skeet.
