I get an error message like this when i try to start up the game:

Exception!

"Gathering Exception Data"

And then it just crashes. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Something smells fishy...

I received this error once. I suggest This:

Download and install Revo Uninstaller (it is freeware and an excellent program). Open up Revo and uninstall
Halo using the "advanced" uninstall setting. Wait for the built in Halo 1 PC uninstaller to run and Follow the onscreen
instructions.

Select remove user data.

Then select "next" when prompted by Revo.

If Revo detects any left over registry files or settings click "select all" then click "delete."

Once you click "Finish" I suggest you restart your PC.

Then reinstall Halo.

Happens to me too, that is, when my friend Jedi Master uses Dev Trainer, possesses me, and then it says "Exception!" (it will sometimes do it when he even has it turned on), it really stinks, lol.

I presume it's his game that crashes in that case, not yours.

It might stink, but that's probably because it's an unsupported (everything about Halo is unsupported, just to add) third party application that probably hasn't seen any version updates in a long time.
