I just now came to that conclusion, I mean in First Strike all those ships appear to check out the debris, he could have snuck on and sold out the MC. Or... he could have attached himself to the pelican the chief and company were on, and floated around in the flagship waiting for them to return to earth.

No, he couldn't have, all the covenant ships in the region ended up at the Unyeilding Heirophant, all the ship there were destroyed or really badly damaged.
And I doubt the monitor could have taken a ship, note that sentinels REALLY dont like plasma. And if he had stowed away with the chief, he wouldn't have had a way to contact the covies without them finding out. It doesn't add up.

It doesn't have any reason to tell the covies where Earth is! It wouldn't make any sence.

He was built by the forerunner but that doesn't mean that he can't get pissed off, (Cortana is just as smart and has emotions) also he is a little mad at the reclaimer for not giving up the index

He probably did tell the covenant where earth was. In "The Maw," it shows him going through the ship and hacking into those big computers. He says to Cortana and Master Chief that he is suprised that the two want to destroy the Pillar. "All the wealth and knowledge." So he now knows where earth is.
Guilty Spark must have gone to the covenant or ran into them when he was just flying around in space. Who knows, but Guilty Spark had to have some part in the invasion of earth.

No he doesn't have to have some part in the invasion of Earth. There are any number of ways the covies could have found Earth.

If that's so, then why did 343GS say that, on the Pillar to Cortana and Master Chief? Plus... what the hell was he downloading from the engine room in the first place?!?

Not only could Guilty Spark have sold out MC and Cortana but he (or she, I mean it's crazy) could have traded the information for a ride to another Halo. He knew there were more of them out there so I would assume he could have given the Covenant the location of Earth for a ride. The Covenant get Earth and another holy ring. Bastard

The Covenant are: 'Clever Bastards'!

  • 04.28.2004 10:50 AM PDT

We talked about this yesterday, you guys. This was my conclusion,

*SPOILER*In First Strike the Covenant were looking for 'The Guardian of the Luminous Key". Because Cortana's translation was not yet optimized, she couldn't elaborate. There is one guardian in Halo, and there is one key. The key is the index, the guardian is the Monitor himself- our friend, 343 Guilty spark.

Strangely, not more than a few days after the Covenant transmission, an assault on Earth is planned. There is only one non-human creature in the entire universe than knows the location of Halo. Guilty Spark. He's back. ;-)

Ok, problem solved. And if you want to discuss this further, go to the original topic.

Here.
