Subject: Halo PC/Halo Trial -useff HELP! Bungie Forum Ninja preferred!

I remember back a few years ago when I had an old 5200FX from nvidia and was running on XP I could do -useff and it would increase my frame rate. Now (3 years later) I try it and all it does is give me HUD errors, etc... I am currently on Vista with a 9500GT DDR2 512MB. Please help me, I want to be able to useff or use00 or any other -use with my new computer! Thank You. Bungie Member would know this but im sure the community may know.

The community members are the only hope you have of getting this answered. ;)

I don't know why you'd want to run useff on a 9500GT exactly, but I suppose that's besides the point of the thread. :)

You mention that you have the same problem with any -use, but since the game just defaults to use14 in most situations I presume you have the problem even without specifying it?

Are you able to post a screenshot of these HUD problems you're having?

Just to point out the valid ones that I can remember incase you haven't tried them all:
use00, useff, use14, use20, use21.

Thank you for the help I will post screen shots in one second, and the reason I want to do -useff is so that I may have absolutley not fps drop while I am record with fraps for long periods of time. I always get a fps drop for about 10 seconds after recording for about a minute. I took about 7 screen shots with fraps I can send you them via xfire as I dont have a photo bucket or any of that.... I think I added you Btcc22, thats you right?

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

The -useXX function is to force older pixel shader modes.

they are -useff, -use11, and -use20

-use20 is pixel shader 2.0, DX9.0, and is the default and how the game runs for anyone with a modern video card.

-use11 is for pixel shader 1.1, I'm guessing this is DX8.0 path

-useFF is fixed function, I beleive DX7.0 path, no shaders.

Oh and I forgot -use14 is also DX8.0 path
