In the days of old, there were legends of a land long lost to time. This land was known as Ranna'Mor. Ranna'Mor was said to contain in its borders 7 warriors. These warriors had once unleashed a veritable hell upon the ancient world, until they were locked away. My name is Toriad, and I am one of those warriors. Our return is approaching. Do not run away, do not cower in fear; take solace in your final days, for that is all we can do. -Legend of Ranna'Mor

A recent project for a materials and lighting class. Considering I lost a lot of work half way through and had to rush to finish, it turned out pretty damn good, I think. Before anyone says it, I know that the visor could use some work.

So, tell me what you think. Any feed back is welcome.

EDIT: Here are the wires for the helmet:

Too much use of lighting, and the back does not look proportional. Besides the flaws I pointed out, it looks pretty good.

Yeah, I'm starting to see some of that now. I'd have to disagree with the lighting comment, that may be me protecting my pride. Thanks for the feed back, though.

Well, I did try a few reflective maps, but I'm still new to that. It surprised me how hard it was to get the glass to look like glass.

Anyway,by one man's request, the wire frame for the helmet:

I think a matte material would look better than the one your using, good clean model tho!

Perhaps. I used a basic material with a reflection and refraction map. Like I said, I kinda ran out of time for this. Since my winter break is coming up, I'll probably start experimenting to see what works.

Epic! ODST helmets always look better in the dark though, I'd try removing the lighting almost completely and see how that looks.

You always need a light source or you just get a black render lol. Its usually the materials and how they react to the light than the light itself.

We'll not completely nothing, I mean like in ODST. You never get to see the helmet in a full view and it looks better that way

"Find The Bomb?!
Find The Bomb?!
I'm Looking For The Flag!
What The Heck Is Assualt!?"

So many good modelers here... Grrr...

Anyways if the back was just a little more vertical the actual model would be perfect.
