Hi. I was wondering if anyone has the same gamepad problem I have. For some reason, tilting the right analog stick up on my gamepad causes MC or the Arbiter to look left, and tilting it down makes them look right. In general, looking around with the right analog stick is screwed up. If I were to turn my gamepad counter-clockwise then the camera movements would be accurate, but using a gamepad like a Wii remote is insane. Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

Specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU @ 2.10GHz
2.00 GB of RAM
Windows 7 32-bit operating system

Gamepad:
PS2 to USB converter

I also have a Saitek P2500 Rumble Force USB Gamepad, although this controller suffers the same problem as the converter. Because of this, I am sure that the problem has to be Halo 2, not the gamepad(s).

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

I've had problems like this with Epic PC games, but not Halo 2... so far. Do you know anyone who has an Xbox 360 controller? I've used one of those, and a Logitech Dual Action gamepad with success.

This is the average H2 Fanboy.
Xfire: JacobGRocks.
50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

Havent had that issue with any controller. It works with my 360 controller. You may need to calibrate in the gamepad Settings in the control panel. Also does it happen in other games too?

I know that the Xbox 360 controller would work, but I'm a little low on cash right now, and paying $50 for a controller is quite a lot. I was hoping I could find a way to get either the converter or the Saitek gamepad to work.

And yes, I also have this same problem when I play Borderlands. Except the axis on the left analog stick is also messed up. I've calibrated my controlers multiple times. It shows that they're working perfectly at the controller settings screen, but when I get to H2 or Borderlands, its still a mess.

Check out my Gaming Rig on EVGA Mod Rigs.

It may have something to do with the PS2 to USB.

USB 360 Controllers can be picked up for about $35 -
Check newegg.com

I'm a little surprised that the 2 guys from Halo CE vs Halo 2 thread haven't made an appearance to call us all nubs for using a gamepad.

*waits for it*

Oh here we go -

"That's how Halo was meant to be played?" On a console, maybe. Not on the PC, though. No PC FPS should favor a controller over the traditional method. Not even a port. If all the nubbery involved in the game, controller advantage included, is "how it was meant to be played," that doesn't help defend your game at all. Actually, it pretty much confirms everything I've said about it. And the players that try to defend it.

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

Meh. I'm sure you know it by now, so I guess I don't need to remind you.

The only reason I enjoy controllers is because this is how Halo was meant to be played. I do use KB&M more frequently though for most PC games but even Crysis is fun to play with a 360 pad.

You honestly think you're something don't you? You might want to reconsider having your "you suck at life" and "I've played 1,300 hours of World of Warcraft" links not on the same page with each other.
Now please stay on topic or stop posting nonsense about a game you have not played. We all understand H2V wasn't perfect and I explained my views already. Now move along.

And I've played H2. We established that in another thread, so running to the "you haven't played it so stfu" argument falls apart. And as I said before, H2 sucks harder than a seasoned adult film star, and the PC port sucks even more. You don't have much of a case. To say H2V "isn't perfect" overestimates the game's value dramatically.

Really? This is from the other thread.

Posted by: DusK
I haven't played H2V because I've already played Halo 2 for Xbox and knew it was a waste of money then. So given that the game is even worse on the PC, why the hell would I pick it up now?

We aren't talking about Halo 2. This isn't the Halo 2 Forum. Either way your profile shows different regarding Halo 2 as well.

I can guarantee you I've spent less time on WoW than you have on mediocre console games like H3 and ODST (1.7k games?)

I really dont get why you are on B.net bashing Halo but just for humor I did the math on my total of Halo 2 and Halo 3 multiplayer games.

4237 games (1771+1807+659) x 15min / 60 = 1059.25 hrs. On average a Match doesn't even last this long its <10mins but I thought it was a good round number. By this math I have spent 229 hours less time on Halo since 2004 than you have on on WoW.

So much for guarantee's :D

I've made my opinion clear and at this point you are still spewing garbage all over this forum. Keep playing your 6 year old games like I'm impressed.

Move on.

Way to gauge your response on my overall time on WoW across God only knows how many years. I can guarantee you I've spent less time on WoW than you have on mediocre console games like H3 and ODST (1.7k games?). Go ahead and check how much I've played it this week. Go on, check.

Also, way to misinterpret my argument. I'm not saying you suck at life; I'm saying you clearly don't know what a good PC game is.

Halo PC was a successful PC game for its time (which was what, 6 years ago?), and the reason was clear; Full support for the mouse and keyboard, and none of the nubbery that plagued H2. It didn't cater to pandering of console kiddies; It was made with the PC gamer in mind. No aim assist. No huge hitboxes. No magnetic bullets. And no advantages for users with M$ console hardware.

Bring your silly little controller to KNFr's servers on HPC. Get facerolled. That's how Halo was meant to be played on the PC. ;)

Uh, in case if you guys forgot, my gamepads still don't work in Halo 2 or Borderlands! If I really have to I'll but a 360 controller, but is there absolutely no other solution?

Not sure. Game developers seem to be focusing solely on the Xbox 360 controller. If they don't want to allow other controllers to work, there's not much we can do. :(

Not sure what to tell you. I can only speak for what I have tried and what works.

I'd try a USB controller that isn't using a PS2 adapter to see if that works.

As I've said in my earlier post my Saitek USB gamepad also doesn't work with Halo 2.

Okay. I guess I'll start saving up for a 360 controller. Thanks for all the help guys. I really appreciate it.

Wait the hell up. So Halo 2 for PC somehow isn't Halo 2 all of a sudden? Then what is it? Shadowrun? Mario? Sonic the Hedgehog? Heh. Sounds like your argument could use some aim-assist too.

But no. It's still Halo 2. Just because it got moved to a different platform doesn't make some dramatically different game. It was moved with all the noobcrap features of the original, which I have indeed played extensively and compared to other games, giving my opinion merit (guested under my brother and later a friend of mine, which is why you don't see it on my GT).

So yeah, I haven't played H2V. Didn't bother (and spent my money on a much better game later on). Having played the original and knowing it's a complete piece of trash, and reading about how everything that made it a piece of trash was moved over, I know that port's a piece of trash without needing to play it. If it has everything that made H2 H2, it's crap.

Less than 10 minutes a match? You must be sooooo proooo. Ub3r l33t. Oh I'm certainly not about to doubt it, though. We both know that auto-aim makes those kills breeze by.

Considering there's only one way to play WoW, it would also only be fair to count your total time spent in campaign. But I know not all of that would be logged. Not to mention a good chunk of that WoW time was my girlfriend playing on my PC with Xfire running, as she did that a lot when I was at work.

However long you try to math it up, it's still gonna be inaccurate. But given that you're spent more time on Halo than you'd have us believe, and I've spent much less time on WoW than my Xfire stats would have you believe, I stand by my guarantee.

Well, if not for guys like me, people would be wasting money after reading your misleading comments. Seriously, if you think bringing all this crap to a PC game was a good idea, you don't clearly know what a good PC shooter is, and your opinion on that subject is moot. Keep talking about this absolutely terrible game like we're impressed.
