Awesome article!

A Construct remake for Reach would be pretty cool, I think anyways.

My thought as well, Construct being one of my favorite Halo 3 maps. If somehow they could BOTH have more vertical air space for flying vehicles between the layers of the map AND more connections between the levels (think of Construct in a more vertical way, with ramps and lifts between them like spiderweb, even more than now), that would be totally awesome.

I know that article could have gone on for pages and pages, but still has peaked my interest. It's amazing to see how far playable levels come at the professional level. Conceptual designing for Halo must be a blast with all the height variations, layers all fitting within a theme. I love it let's see some more documentation behind the thought processes :P

Honestly, I've never been a big fan of construct since often times everything is centered around the lifts, usually camping the. It's fun to be up top but lame to be any where else and generally one team has control of the top.

The concept art is astonishing though. Why wasn't that in the art of Halo 3?

I still think that the Banshee or Hornet would have worked fine, seeing that there is a Spartan Laser and Missile Pod. Even the Brute Shot could have dealt with close air combat!

Oh well, this was still a great read. I can't stand the wait for Halo: Reach content!

It would have been interesting to see a Banshee in Construct, although with its final state, I don't see it happening. It really wouldn't fit on the lower balcony, since one team would spawn with it literally right behind their backs. At least you left it in there for forge.

I really hope Bungie releases something like this for all their maps. It would definitely make for some interesting reads. Although now that I think about it, even if you released one map post a week, you still might not even get done when Reach releases.

What if Bungie did something similar to Epic, and released some iterations that "were never meant to be"? Like Dark Corners Map Pack came with that piece of Campaign that was unincluded, and didn't assist the storyline.

I wish they still had more emphasis on those windows by the purple lifts.

It makes it look a little Cold Storage-ey, and a little Epitaph-ish as well.

Yep. I never thought of it to be the slightest bit like Ascension until now. That was pretty cool. I really wish it looked like the concept pictures though. They looked, dare I say it... pretty? Haha. Great read. It was very interesting to here what was going through the "Man on the Moon's" mind as he helped create the map. ; )

wow, i really enjoy reading these "developer blogs," if you will. The levels if more than anything. Its really interesting because us as players see the levels as "Oh, this level's horrible, veto!"

But we never think of it in its fullness, and aesthetics. Wow you guys should do more of these with the other Halo 3 maps. I would be very interested to see some word on Valhalla... or should i say River World! Sandtrap would be interesting to hear about aswell. Not to mention some early renders. Seeing the more open version of Construct would be so cool!

Bungie, your very generous in offering these blogs, even when cranking on Reach :)

I am curious about that too. It was probably just a mistake.
Getting back on topic: This was a great read that gave me a lot of insight into how you guys go about map design and things like that. I would love to see articles like this covering other multiplayer maps.

My Best Bungie moment: finally beating all the Halo games on solo legendary.
My Worst Bungie moment: not seeing giant stuffie grunts in the Bungie store.

AWESOME, if we could get these for more if not all the maps that would be sweet.
I am looking at a career in level design, so this is pretty much the best thing ever.

OMG, I can't BR this purple thing to death, get rid of it Bungie!

Construct does work well for smaller games, but really, the bottom level becomes pretty worthless. I think the space could have been put to much better use if you had followed the original design concept. Me being a vehicle whore does not cloud my judgment on the matter at all.
