Please it would be soooooo cool. Like in conflict desert storm on gamecube you can play four player cooperative. This toll is here as prove for how many people think it should be in the game.

No. It would put a constraint on the amount of enemies and enemy vehicles you could fight. Bad idea.

well it would depend on the difficulty in the first halo if you look carefully when u play cooperative there are actually more enemies. they could do the same thing for a 4 player cooperative. just make sure more enemies are added.

.,.

i think that would be better for xbox live not split sreen.

yeah but there are people without Xbox live and if the game wants to sell youll want this to apply to everyone besides not everybody cares about the split screen i mean whos so picky that they need the full screen to play single player?

  • 04.28.2004 1:35 PM PDT

.,.

i should have been more specific. When i said xbox live i was also refering to system link, and the reason why i say those rather than split screen is because 4 people on one tv is annoying and difficult to see.

Like maybe limit 2 per box or sumthing, but i guess i could get used to having 4 people on one box

i mean just cos u can do it on one x box doesnt mean u have to if u dont like playing on a tiny screen yeah u could lan them together and play but they should also have the four split screen for those people who dont have it. So you dont have to use the four way split screen but at least its possible for those who will use it.

I've always thought it was a great idea, and not too much trouble to implement. I don't think any constraints would be needed. Loading would be a little tricky, but if anyone can pull this off, it's Bungie.

I've talked about this for over a year and a half now, and it's entirely possible.

I like my Covenant like i like my woman, screamin and with a sticky on there face.

i think that it's actually a possiblity because at the moment when you get to earth there are 4 spartans total so yea you'll probaly met kelly once you leave earth and go some where else where she whent but i think it would be graet 4 player co-op instead of having the computer controled chartacters

I think its a bad idea. There probibly wouldent be enough vehicles and ammo and if you fight with just one other freind over a weapon think about it with 3. Also the game might have slowdowns and the levels would have to be huge to prevent as much freindly fire and just to get that many MCs in one place. Also it would be to easy.

think, the game shouldnt get slowdowns due Bungies great new texture compression

and if its too many people for the vichcles... its always optional to set as many players as you want up to 4

replace the wartys with APC ones then add firearms on

im sure Bungie has it's solutions for a 4p possilbe co-op

and it would make screen size and lag unacceptable.

For piss-poor internet connections and crappy programming, absolutely. I think it's rather obvious that some for of co-op is necessary and Bungie has already done two player split-screen. I find it likely that there will be a form of co-op on Live and System Link, and I'd say it's also likely that it would be more than 2 players.

I think that it would be awesome. It would put that transport warthog to use also! Four player split screen is alright for multiplayer so why would it be to small for co-op. I am not sure about the lag issues but other games do it, don't they? I don't see why bungie couldn't do it.

i think having 4 people play campaign would be to easy. if they added more enemies that would just make the level really crowded, and i dont like that. they should leave it as it is, but change it for xbox live

Not enough ammo, not enough vehicles, not enough enemies blah blah blah. Man you people -blam!- a lot.

In Halo 1 there was more than enough ammo for Co-op, heck even enough for 4 people to distribute. Remember that you all don't need to be holding down the trigger and wasting as much ammo. You can all fire in bursts saving hundreds of rounds.

Not enough vehilces? Bull crap. In every level there would be enough vehicles for four people. Sure one guy might get stuck running around on foot every now and then on levels like Halo and Silent Cartographer(that is until he got his own), but other than that the vehicle numbers were just fine.

Not enough enemies...There are enough. What needs to be done is a different respawn set up. Maybe something like this. Every time you die, your dead until the next checkpoint/loading zone. Making it a bit more fair and forcing players to work together rather than having turns at rushing in and slaughtering.

So yes a 4-player co-op would be cool. Your problem people is that you aren't looking at new ways of doing co-op. Which is rather sad.

Here's a good reason why it might not work. When you split screen with two players you double the number of polygons onscreen, effectively doubling the load on the rendering engine. Now you've cut the maximum number of enemies your team can go up against by two. Add two more co-operative players and you divide the maximum number of enemies by four.

Take for example the "Final Run" on "Two Betrayals" when you crest up that hill and encounter a Covenant army and two Wraiths. They had so many men down there that they needed to do the battle in three waves. They just didn't have the polygons to bring everyone out all at once.

Now... go back to that battle and divide the number of your enemies by two (for your two additional Master Chiefs) and see how much fun you're going to have with your four players.

You'd mop up the lot of them in short order.

Trust Bungie, they changed the first person shooter forever with their first Halo game. They know what they're doing. I'm sure they'd love to have a four player co-operative mode but they're not going to put it in if the system can't handle it.

If the rendering engine couldnt handle it they wouldnt use the 2 player coop and i do like the idea of people respawnign differently and having to work together more the first game was to basic and a simple walk through where you just ran into a room and shot everything. And if on the first game they handle four player split screen multi player then im sure they can do it on larger levels as well like in a 4 player cooperative. Lag wont be a problem cos if you link four boxes together and play wit 16 people youll notice that the game doesnt slow down a bit noo matter how many explosions there are. If you find it too easy just up the difficulty and just cos it has the ability to sustain four players doesnt mean you have to use it. I mean god if you dont like the idea you dont have to use it but for those that do they can use the four player cooperative mode.

Bollocks, shows how much you now about computers. In a four player coop more master chiefs doesnt mean more games, MC is just another entity with a camera, the xbox wouldnt have anymore trouble displaying the enemies than it did before.Obviously it would be another matter for live, but again it would just be two games running on there own xboxes with data concerning the entities being transfered between them which with enough bandwidth shouldnt be an issue.
