Any Logitech keyboard is pretty good. As for a mouse, arguably the best mouse out there, and the one I'm using right now, is the Logitech MX 518.

i'm using the keyboard and optical mouse that came with my dell, and they don't perform like crap. I wish i had more buttons on the mouse though, since i only have the 2 mouse buttons and a scroll wheel.

xbox controllers don't give you the accuracy of a mouse.

I've always used Kensington trackballs. Right now I'm using this one.
I actually prefered their older, non-optical, version, but it does not work with my new computer. The little plastic roller balls that support the big ball get gummed up easier than the old mechanical steel wheels in the older model, but they are easier to clean.

I also seem to remeber the first one I had had some tiny switches that you set to make it left-handed or right-handed. The newer ones do it with software. It sometimes gets confusing when setting up gaming prefs or when starting on an installer disc that does not have your left handed choice in its prefs settings. I guess software is cheaper than switches.

I use the standard Apple keyboard. I don't really like the feel, but have not looked for a substitute. Maybe I'll check out some of the models suggested here.
