It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

they would ban that account after it was reported.

Actually, i believe, however correct me if i'm wrong, but i think that they ban your IP rather than account. That way, they don't need to keep banning accounts.

With B.B. gone, the passion of Bungie.net has lessened.

Gods Prophet is right. It's an IP ban. As soon as one account gets banned by a Mod, any other one sharing the IP will be banned by Disembodied Soul.

However, Dismebodied Soul likes to give out 2-day bans.... But if your other account's ban is longer, after the two days Soul will just give you another 2-day ban.

This happened with me, anyway. I don't know if anyone else experienced it the same.

I thought the XBL bans were bios serial number bans or something...?

From what I understand, Bungie.net bans are account based AND IP based. If an account is banned, the IP is flagged as banned too, meaning any user who logs in from the same IP is banned as well. It happened to me once, when I logged into my account from a Uni terminal.

They ban your bios because most isp's do not provide a static ip they use the dynamic ip system. So everytime you log into xbl it could be with a differant ip so banning a single ip would not be effective.

I know for a fact that a banned xbl chipped xbox can be fixed by flashing the bios with a new one.

Thanks for that Recon. Very interesting. I understand why the "how" bit is undisclosed. If people knew, i'm sure someone would find a way around it.
