Well I prefer sidewinder.....only because I love snow levels. In any game. But about the Flood.

The Flood are a parasitic/ virulant organism that attach themselves to a host organism while in the infection form state. After they have attached they take a probe of sorts and tap into the host's nueral system. They make a neural patch and link up with the host brain/ consciousness and take over the body.

Eventually the Flood infection form then changes the host's genetic structure ona radical level. Pending on the size and intelligence of the host the body is changed either into a combat form (like marines and Elites in Halo 1), a carrier form (such as Grunts and Jackals) or what I call an Intelligence form (like Captain keyes). Here is a basic life cycle of the Flood before I go on.

Infection Form - to Host - Combat Form - To Carrier Form - to 5 Infection Forms- repeat

After a combat form has fullfilled its usefulness it then changes into a Carrier form. Where chemicals are made to alter the atmosphere to a more "Flood" liking and then five more infection forms are produced. Then the cycle continues and the feeding never stops.

Also the Flood learn everything from their hosts and pass it on to later generations.
