Mmmmm, Cheese....

I have been trying to host LAN games, but it is failing to create a connection to the server.

I could easily host games on my old windows xp computer. but this is only happening on my vista computer. Does halo 1 require xp to host games? I can perfectly join but not host online or LAN.

Is there certain setting I have to run Halo 1 on, or is it just a bug?

Something smells fishy...

Personally I've never been able to host a LAN Halo 1 PC game. However I have hosted an online multiplayer game that appeared on the Gamespy server list.
The only time I hosted a LAN game was when I created a peer to peer network which enabled the other person in the room to connect to my computer.

1.You should make sure that all the necessary ports are forwarded.
2. You should make sure that Haloded.exe is allowed through the Vista firewall.
3. Go into "network settings" in Halo 1 PC and make it 2304, 2305. Haloded.exe defaults to ports 2302, 2303. So in order to join your server you must change your client and server ports in network settings.

Mmmmm, Cheese....

The firewall will not let me make halo.exe an exception. I also cannot find the haloded.exe - where can I find it? The game is installed to this directory: E:/Halo/

One more question, should I had installed it to the default path for my computer? - D:/Program Files (x86)/Microsoft Games/Halo

I believe it cannot make a connection or make a server. I took a look at the troubleshooting and none of it was any different.
