i was looking for the microsoft xbox chat forum thing to ask about the bees, but i came upon this halo 2 faq on the www.xbox.com website: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/games/halo2faq.htm . in this faq, regarding the release date, it says (and i quote), "Since we first announced Halo 2, we have always been diligent about stating that the game would be released when we felt it was ready. With that said, the Bungie team is working toward an internal goal of shipping Halo 2 by fall" -- yes, an "internal goal", perhaps august 24th? HMM?!

hmm, upon further inspection it says things along the lines of 'looking forward to the release of splinter cell: pandora tomorrow' blah blah so yes it is old, but the fact remains that its an internal deadline, seems a bit sketchy. ^_^

yea, im used to being so well-informed by Bungie, especially regarding even minute details (weekly updates), and to be left in the dark regarding something as huge as a demo or early release is an odd position for a bungie fan.

what's also noteworthy in this article is that it said that bungie guaranteed a march release date, and didn't meet it. get it? they SAID it was coming out in march ("In March, you guaranteed that Halo 2 would launch in spring 2004. Why should we believe you now?
"). now they're SAYING its coming on november 9th. will it? hmm, dunno. we'll haveee too seeeee. DUN DUN DUN!

I'm no expert, but I think the full page magazine ads saying "On November 9th, Earth will never be the same" are probably a pretty good indication of the release date.

Maybe Bungie will be done with the game before that, but it's Microsoft that's publishing/releasing it, they can sit on it until 11/9 if they want.

The Nov9 Date said on the www.xbox.com FAQ said it subject to change without notice and also the tech support on the xbox site has said it could change its not permanent.

OK, but why spend millions in advertising (magazine ads, movie trailers, etc) with November 9th plastered all over them, just to release the game 2 1/2 months early?

This speculation is almost as bad as when the HL2 source was stolen...

Well my theory on the Nov 9 thing Is that It says on the ads Nov 9 The earth will never be the same. I think there talking about the earth in halo 2. I think on Nov 9 in halo 2 it will be attacked. Also it says in the new trailer that "we are not ready" as in the earth in halo 2 and the earth here we are not ready for the game to be release as in it will be a suprise. Another thing it says is "He is" He's ready to fight in halo 2 and the game is ready. Sorry if my theory may seem stupid, its just what I think.

with something as big as halo 2 they wouldnt risk mesing anything up, so like bungie has stated, NOV. 9th will be the release date.. i mean do u know how many copies the stores would have to get shipped earlier escpecially for people that pre-orderd their copy and are having it mailed to them... thats just a lot of hassling for the "under compenies" that have to ship everything and move the dates up n stuff..... just doesnt seem logical. . . but i am hoping for some HUGE update or some type of demo/ maybe the training version that we hear so much about, that might come out august 24

A demo might, be nice, mmm not totally convinced i want a demo though. And i think that microsoft would never release the full game in august, the same month as doom 3, that just wouldnt make much sense.

You know, as stupid as it sounds, they could have everything all done and ready to ship right now, and even if the game is just done, they could make enough for the people who preordered it in time for august 24th, and then the people who didnt would get it the week after and so on
