3.covering a teammate is much more effective with a pistol
sorry, not always true. I'd much rather have a good sniper covering me than a decent pistoleer. While, in most cases, you'd be better off with a pistol buddy in a firefight once it has started, a sniper can pick off enemies before they get close to you and give you a quick heads up when there's trouble coming towards you
5.it takes a real man to put your life on the line and come out guns blazing and victorious I think how you play a videogame has little to nothing to do with someone's actual courage or honor.
3.they think that they are helping their team by getting kills
well you know what? i've won entire ctf games without ever firing a shot or using a mellee attack or grenades.(sneak in grab flag escape in hog)
How do you intend on winning a CTF game if NOBODY on your team makes a point to kill anybody on the other team who are happily shooting at you guys? Somebody has to hold back the waves of enemies coming towards the base and kill before somebody makes off with your flag. Truth is, sniping is helpful to the team, just like running straight through with a shotgun and blasting the people in your way.
You make a pretty good argument, but my opinion is the sniper rifle is just like any other weapon. Of course it's not the absolute best and everyone should use it, but the sniper rifle has its own place and uses in the field. Being a sniper is just a playstyle, afterall, just like grabbing camo and meleeing, using a ghost or run in on foot assault rifle blazing.
-edit- never lost a multiplayer halo match ever? I'm guessing you only play Xbox, but what about when you just started playing Halo? Did you play blind kids or something? I'd be horribly disappointed with playing multiplayer if nobody in my town was good enough to beat me at least once. . . I kinda' feel bad for you. It must get so boring.
