On the battlefield the most important person isn't who's giving the orders, but whos doing them. Thus one should always watch after one's allies, and keep them alive so they may keep you alive.
The weapon you hold doesn't have the skill, the person holding it does. Well done out there!
What bothers me is there are never dead brutes around the dead elites and the weapons are always fully charged.
It's like they just said "Oh dear, the brutes are revolting. Should we fight back? Nah."
I think what would've been cool is at the end, instead of assuming the engineer was friendly, You and Dare run into a surviving elite that was trying to save the engineer. Since both species have translators they could've talked to each other. A way the elite could enter in is in a cutscene. When your about to enter the data center instead of fighting the brutes there the elite jumps down with an energy sword and kills the brutes. However you'd have to help him kill the chieftain because the elite's sword would run out of energy during the cutscene (otherwise he'd just attack the Rookie and Dare).
