In the beginning cutscene of the chapter Flawless Cowboy, everyone except Chief dies. What I don't get is that he was the only person without a seatbelt. Can
anybody explain the logic behind this? (Please don't actually take this seriously.)

sense Im bored, Ill explain to ya...Spartans are basically BEASTS, they can withstand major blows to the body...the are extremely strong and the Hell Jumpers, I have heard, can seriously fall on their face at top speeds of around lets say 120 mph which is the terminal velocity of an average human...and not die...probably not even injured

so yea basically spartans seriously don't die easily from impact

It funny though, he can live from a huge fall from space yet he can't get run over by a warthog.

Don't drink to excess– You might shoot at tax-collectors... and miss

Computer: Power Mac G5 CPU Type: PowerPC G5 (2.2) Number Of CPUs: 2 CPU Speed: 1.8 GHz L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB Memory: 1.25 GB Bus Speed: 900 MHz

Not only can't he survive getting run over, he can't even survive getting grazed a low speed, like when some one is standing next to a hog that's pulling out and it just barely makes contact. I've bounced of taxi cabs while wearing jeans and walked away, no space age armor needed.

Whenever anything happens that doesn't make sense, it's a wizard. Trust me.
