Bungie cares.

however they ARE a company and they DO need to make Money.

you know for food, shelter, that kind of stuff.

for every $60 copy of Odst $27 are lost ($12 to the Retailer, $5 for advertisements and returns, $10 for the costs of goods such as the manual, disc, and case)

the remaining $33 dollars are split between Microsoft and bungie (and they aren't split 50/50. i believe microsoft makes more then bungie off this.) and then bungie has to turn around and invest that money in pay checks and future games. so they really will have a few cents, if that, more then when they started.

So contrary to popular belief, bungie is not sitting on massive piles of gold.

They arent?

Nope. Microsoft is, becuase they OWN the rights to Halo. But Bungie does get abit of it.

Jesus christ, you guys know MS is the one that sets the prices, right? I really hope you do.

I mean, Bungie can say what they want to the price to be, but they dont have any REAL authority to set the price. The one that does is an evil corporation by name of Microsoft, which happens to be run the DEVIL.

I'll be on my own side.

There's a flaw in the arguments of everyone saying "nobody forced you to buy the game." Camnator is a self-proclaimed Halo fan, owning all the books, games, etc. He bought it because he wanted a new Halo game (however short it may have been is beside the point).

Just because he bought it willingly despite his opinion on the Mythic disc doesn't mean his complaint is invalid or somehow less valid unless he was forced into the purchase at gunpoint.

I myself felt that Firefight wasn't fleshed out enough, which was the main draw for me in the game. I knew what was in it and what wasn't prior to purchase, but I bought it anyway. However, if I made a topic complaining about the lack of features, does my prior knowledge make my complain invalid?

I'm nearly positive all of you have bought something in the past that you were not 100% satisfied with, but maybe 75 or 80%. Enough that you liked most things about it, but there were one or two things that stuck out that annoyed you. This is one of those times.

My problem is he isn't arguing about those features of the game. If he was, he might have a point because of lack of knowlege on this features could be a legitamate reason, seeing as how bungie seems to be so secretive about information.

But he is arguing about the mythic disc shouldn't have been included because that made it a rip-off. The game would probably have sold for $60 with or without the mythic disc, so how is including it a rip-off.

Dude what are you saying? ODST Had a Very long Campaign And was made with a NEW Game Engine. Further more ODST Had online multiplayer and the makers were not in any way lazy about the project. You do not know anything about this game like it's new Vehicles,Weapons,Game Engine. ODST Took over 200 people to Develope. This game was a fresh new very long game and all of you just keep lying about it.

Doesn't matter.
Every major standalone Xbox 360 title to date has cost $60. This includes the original Bioschock and Mirrors Edge, just to name a few.

Both of those games have just as much, if not less than Halo 3: ODST's content.
Example:

Halo 3: ODST has Campaign, and Firefight.
Mirrors Edge has it's Story Mode, and a Time Trial run.

Both games were $60.

Why is it that ODST is getting all the blame?

ODST wasn't a major title, it should have been an expansion and was considered one for a while. Most Xbox 360 expansions are $20 - $30. Let's compare it to Halo 3...

ODST - 3.5 Gb
Halo 3 - 8.9 Gb

There's obviously a large difference, even when ignoring all of the other reasons it was was overpriced.

And again, that's why it's partially Microsoft's fault for their dumb rules, that's irrelevant to this topic, however.

And one more thing, I enjoyed the ODST campaign, it was pretty cool, I can both enjoy a game and realize it was a rip off. Firefight was dreadful, not only did they lie to us about the skulls being random, the enemies are easily predictable, it lags like crazy, and after set 5 it never increases the difficulty, even the maps were just lazily slapped in directly from campaign.

Let me geuss, you also think Recon and the Reach beta justify the price? Ha!
ok but u also have to realize that halo 3 had like a bunch of map packs so thts what up the gbs

Oh? Please let us know what game store you got your ODST at that didn't have the Mythic disc inside of it, I bet you can't. considering their weren't any. I suggest you educate yourself before talking about things you know little about.

ODST: Full Game. Cost: $60
Mythic Disk: Not full game. Cost: Free

Okay, you were forced to receive a gift.

I really cannot believe you've dragged this on for 10 pages. I cannot respond to everything you say because you're possibly the most epically stubborn person I've seen in a while. Do you honestly think I care what you think about me? I left for five pages, but even after all these other people have told you how wrong you are you still continue to spew the same argument, the same insult, and the same claims that you are right and we are wrong.

Debating 101:
You're entitled to your opinion, as am I. So, if I disagree with you, you can try and make your point more valid. The more valid arguments you make, the better you do overall. But, if you make the same argument over and over, you lose your credibility. You also lose your credibility as soon as you make childish remarks such as "get an education". I've already proven as much as I would like to. My point is made. If you feel the absolute need to continue wasting my time, go ahead and PM me. Be warned, I'll probably ignore you.

I digress, there is nothing to argue about, because I've made my point.

"ODST: Full Game. Cost: $60"

Where are you getting that? Bungie themselves said it was only worth $40, so your logic is extremely flawed.

"but even after all these other people have told you how wrong you are you still continue to spew the same argument,"

Such as?

"and the same claims that you are right and we are wrong. "

Not really, if you were happy with your purchase, great, but some of us felt ripped off.

"My point is made."

And so was mine, which has thus far not been refuted.

The game was made by a small team in a short amount of time, had very little content, utilized a pre-existing engine, and compared to other Halo titles was a flop.

All you have given me was, "Most of us didn't feel ripped off." How about trying to make actual points?

The game was made by a team of 300 is that small to you? It took them 3 years to create that game. The game engine they used is brand new. It is not a fish... It doesnt flop around.

Dude ODST Had No MM Systeme and The Campaign Was Shorter Than I want and There was No NEW VEHICLE and there Was only twoo NEW Weapon and the Game Engine was the Same as Halo3 But with Some small Improvements and Bungie Doesnt even have 200 People working There so I dont Think you Know What your Talking About.

another thing is that halo has 1.3 GB n halo odst has 91MB

Bungies' view on the price. It's about midway down the page, doesn't let me copy it, extended characters error. But even they disagree with their initial $40 price tag.

Haha no they would never release such trash of a game you are making ODST out to be. ODST had everything i said in it and it had over 7 new weapons to be exact. People like you who make games into garbage sicken me.

  • 01.24.2010 12:38 PM PDT

see thts another reason people lose so much space they download all there games to there hard drive yes its smart but watch which ones ur installing since some are bigger then others and take more room up

  • 01.24.2010 12:39 PM PDT

yo man if you dnt like the game then dnt buy it or play it ur probably a cod fanboy anyway since we get those everyday what i dnt get is tht no cod fan complains about call of duty since everythime i play the game its the same crap over n over n now they say they made the 3rd one after the release of the 2nd really peed me off if they had extra stuff to put in why didnt they i say cod mod 3 is gunna be a rip off cuz a lot of things could of went into mod 2

You missed my point. I used those as an example. The fact that you think it could have sold at $60 without the Mythic disc is a moot point because you don't know that for sure, and it doesn't change the fact that the Mythic disc is still there. The fact of the matter is some people had to re-buy the same content they had already bought before, and they're not happy about it.

  • 01.24.2010 12:48 PM PDT

i guess no one agrees with my statement

OK, I see your point. My point was trying to be that you didn't rebuy the mythic map you got it as a free gift. Because their no way to say the game wouldn't have cost $60, seeing as how the average game is about the same quality as ODST.

Anything by bungie is good. Sell your house on ebay, too. Usually it's worth 11$ but this time try selling it for 33$

DMH | TMA | Blueprint

Can't be too careful with your company. I can feel the devil walking next to me.

Here's a good article that has been overlooked.

That shows that Bungie said it was $40 in pre-production. It was considered a full release at the end.

I don't remember being held at gunpoint...

I'm glad Bungie added the mythic disc. My H3 disc had the Player Failed to Load Content error.
