Money is the currency used to BUY those items. All material goods cost money, it'll help cover the cost of transportation of that water and food, and the actual cost of buying the products.
Exactly my point, why does it cost money to do those things? It shouldn't, that's putting a price on life. And again, we've already given them 100 million dollars, that's probably more than their entire country, they just slapped concrete everywhere, that's not expensive. And giving them money won't help them at all unless you teach them how to industrialize, otherwise it becomes a waste of time and money.
You must not have a basic understanding of economics. Sure, it would be great if everyone gave money, resources, and captial to help these poor people for free, but unfortunately that is not how it works. No one is going to just give something away, not very much anyway, and if you limit all donations of food, water, planes, etc. to the Red Cross to be free, then you will never get enough resources to do anything. If everybody donates a little cash to the Red Cross so they can use the combined funds to buy aid for these people, you will increase the amount of aid by many, many fold.
Like I said, this is basic economics.
