Remember Fight The Flood? That was real too not some way to advertise Halo 3.

Mike Lowery: [singing] Bad boys, bad boys what ya gonna do? What ya gonna do when we come for you?
[Marcus starts ad-libbing the first verse]
Mike Lowery: Dude, you gotta learn the words.
Marcus Burnett: We usually only do the chorus

The game developers arnt given all the money, that goes to the publishers, bungie are paid to make it and then microsoft continue to fund their projects, the 77K is what bungie can give to them, after reach they could do loads but during production of a AAA title they dont have much to spare.

Why not just give the 77K issue a press release and be done with it.

Why the physical marketing, forcing people to play thier game to gain donations, putting their logo on the back of a T-Shirt, why not just give the cash to do the right thing?

Its because everyones favorite radio station is WII FM

Whats in it for me.

Well, I guess you're set in your opinion.

My recommendation to you then would be to send a letter to Bungie's office explaining your outrage at Bungie trying to market off of a tragedy. And if you really are disgusted with Bungie as a company I also recommend you stop posting on the forums and stop playing their products.

Are you in a disastrous scenario? No. Are you really a respectable person? Uncertain. Did you generalize? Yes.

Good day -blam!-.

Jesus calm down man how bout they don't give anything at all huh? If they hadn't of even said they were going to donate you wouldn't have jumped on them like this you bastard

You should donate something. Do you know what happened. A 7.0 earthquake happened killing more than 10,000 people. Then a another earthquake at 6. something killing 2,500 or more so donate something. I got three schools to donate more than 500 dollars for Hati

My school donated 2,884.36 bastard, and that was all the students money.

Dead Mans Hand-Always Loaded.

I WAS SOCK

If someone makes a dontation... you don't go after them and tell them they didn't donate enough.

OP, if you were honestly worried about this situation, you would go to the large corporations who haven't donated, not criticize the donations of companies that had the generosity to do so.

We are missing the point,

Take Bungie out of the mix for a second.

Actor Kelsey Grammor posts on his official twitter, hey, come sign up for my website and I'll donate a buck for Haiti.

Seriously, so hey, I'll help out, but only if I accomplish some of my marketing objectives? Its exploitive.

What exactly are you complaaining about because that sounds as if you are upset that Haiti is being used as a marketing ploy by everyone and you are not just unhappy with Bungie

Thats my point, I don't like it when anyone exploits charity as marketing. If your going to be charitable just do it because its the right thing to do, don't try to get something in return.

This is inciting the community to donate in the easiest way possible, not Bungie themselves donating. When you take into account the Bungie store's entire monthly profits, along with the individual donations that staff are making, this is a pretty good idea. Besides, I don't see any other studios even publicly donating.

Thank you.

I say good job Bungie. They didn't have to donate but they did and people are criticizing them for donating money? If anything you should be congratulating them it could've came out of their wages for all we know.

Not everyone has money to throw around.

Ok, OP. Go into your wallet, pull out 77k. Now do better. 77K is hella lot of Cash, i think I'd be happy with 77K and not complaining.

I don't think you comprehend the magnitude of what has happened in Haiti.

I have donated generously. By percentage of personal wealth, far more generously than Bungie is committing.

I've read that pure profit, Bungie made 300 million on Halo 3 alone. 77K is just part of their advertising budget to promote the brand. Its a shameless publicity grab.

By what sources? So Your saying you know where every dime that Bungie receives goes?

  • 01.22.2010 7:23 PM PDT

"You truly are incorruptible, are you?"
Joker

Okay, first the weekly update says they donated 100K not 77K.

Second, would you rather if Bungie didn't do the 100K?

Third, Bunige could have made a fine publicity stunt by without the Haiti Earthquake. Halo Franchise is so popular they practically don't have to do advertising. In other words if they were going to promote their industry, they would not have to use Haiti Earthquake.

Fourth, OP please realize their are more nice people out there than you think.

EDIT: Fifth, I think if you were going to fully criticize if Bungie was greedy then you would have to know their budget. You can not come to the sudden conclusion without knowing the whole picture.

Everything costs money. It's life. We're at a time where economy means everything.

The point of this is not the fact that things cost money to buy, it's the fact that Bungie is trying to aid in the relief efforts.

Now is not a time to "teach them how to industrialize" now is the time to help the 1.5 million homeless get back on there feet and prevent them from starving.

100 million is not enough money, otherwise all other relief efforts would not be continuing. The money from Bungie and all other sources are going towards helping these people.

It's arrogant to say that the money being used to feed and house these starving people is a waste if we are not "teaching them" at the same time.

I agree 100 million is not enough. Haiti needs more money and I agree we have to teach them too.

Every shirt that sells isn't Just bungie donating. Bungie sold a product so that we feel like we are donating. When you buy one you go, "oh hot damn, I just got this snazzy shirt, and donated to Haiti!" Calm down bro, Bungie's not evil, they cool, they cool.
Honestly I think that we in America should be putting our money into our country. My opinion.
