I just think it would've been so cool if during a part it was raining really hard and drops were getting on your visor. That would make an awesome multiplayer map too. I don't know why they couldn't do it. They did that in metroid prime on the gamecube 10 years ago.

Which map i don't remember seeing that in metroid prime and i beat the game.

It was mainly in the hub world and it was quite visible. Think Click Clock Woods-Spring for BK.

thank you. I didn't beat the whole game, I just remember walking outside in one environment and it being raining pretty hard and it dripping onto your visor. very cool.

Self-proclaimed genius.
Roam the streets with a sign, "will love for false hope."

There's some sprinkles but the Xbox 360 is worse than the Xbox. Halo 2 had rain. Halo 3 does not. This is extremely evident when you emulate Halo 2 on an Xbox 360. The Great Journey loses the rain. =(

Gears of War 2 had pretty good rain so I can't really say from a programming standpoint if Bungie is lazy or if the 360 just sucks. All I know is that I want rain and there isn't any.

Um who cares? The game was garbage either way.

Slay the heritic!

Winning or losing doesn't really matter much to me. I play for fun, and nothing you can say will change that. Sure, I have a low K/D, sure, I have a low rank in Halo 3, but I really don't care. It's not like it actually means anything. It's a number. And for the record, opinion and fact are two completely different things.

Yeah there was rain, but not very good rain. It would have been better with rain, but it was still good without it. If you want really good rain, go play Left 4 Dead 2's "Hard Rain" campaign. :awesome:

i dunno...but it would have been cool (but annoying) to have the water droplets like fall on the helmet and see them on the screen, or have your helmet fog up...

When did Halo 2 have rain?It had snow but no rain.

Oh, yeah. I remember the rain in gears 2. That was pretty awesome.

I am human, I am good and bad as well. But I try my hardest to stay good. And some of the things I do and say may be bad. Or just not too good, but I do try.

So with that said I don't fault you. I mean your only human, good or bad.

I swore I saw a few drops come down at one point.

Armor Lock vs. Top Speed, Approaching Ghost = Super Awesome!

Wow, the engine? i play Halo 3 and ODST more than anything, but Oblivion handles hours of rain, and its 2006, with worse graphics! Oh, probablly the capabilities were a bit more expanded since its a full world not like ODST?

yeah i was thinking the same thing. On the cover of ODST there is the rookie in rain. But there is no rain when we play. Is there?

Don't you just hate it when people pretend to know what they're going on about.

The xbox 360 out performs the xbox in every way bar reliability. (Isn't that surprising, the second generation is better, who'd of thought?)

When a machine is forced to emulate another compromises are often forced upon it. For example, you can emulate the nintendo ds and play the new pokemon games, but even on a decent spec pc it may not run at 100% frame rate. This does not in any shape or form mean that the ds is "better" than the pc.

A halo 2 multiplayer map was dropped from matchmaking because the fog caused issues.

Africa isn't really a rainy place.

Real men use magnums.

I hope in reach they have a map where it's raining really hard.

  • 01.29.2010 10:13 AM PDT

There are those who said this day would never come. What have they to say now?

Then you may like Halo: Reach.

  • 01.29.2010 10:40 AM PDT

You guys obviously don't play on HDTV's, because I'm looking at it raining right now.

  • 01.29.2010 11:02 AM PDT

maybe because it's in -blam!- AFRICA...

Yeah but it just barely drizzles. It doesn't pour like in gears 2.

Tallon Overworld, the place where Samus' ship lands. The forest area.

Shoot, Craterian Overworld in Super Metroid. Rain all OVER the place =P (I kid, but man that game was gorgeous at the time)

Obviously everyone has already explained why, but seriously, their engine couldn't handle rain?? I find this fascinating and appalling at the same time.

Can you imagine how tense some of the patrols/battles would've been if you had a scenario like Hard Rain in L4D2? Even Oblivion could handle rain/wind. Just sad.

And yes I realize you can see they tried with those extremely hard to see faint droplets barely coming down, but they could've done a lot more with the rain sound (you can barely hear it) a long with the thunder (I'm assuming it's supposed to be distant/far off) and perhaps even lightning (Can you see yourself getting blinded every now and then when in VISR mode during a battle?) Talk about adding to the dank/abandoned creepy atmosphere.

Oh well...
They had never planned to have rain in Halo, so there was no easy way to add it, not in the amount of time that ODST was made. If they had taken another couple months, they may have done it, but they had a deadline.
