Subject: Why was there no rain in Mombasa?

Obviously everyone has already explained why, but seriously, their engine couldn't handle rain?? I find this fascinating and appalling at the same time.

Can you imagine how tense some of the patrols/battles would've been if you had a scenario like Hard Rain in L4D2? Even Oblivion could handle rain/wind. Just sad.

And yes I realize you can see they tried with those extremely hard to see faint droplets barely coming down, but they could've done a lot more with the rain sound (you can barely hear it) a long with the thunder (I'm assuming it's supposed to be distant/far off) and perhaps even lightning (Can you see yourself getting blinded every now and then when in VISR mode during a battle?) Talk about adding to the dank/abandoned creepy atmosphere.

Oh well...
They had never planned to have rain in Halo, so there was no easy way to add it, not in the amount of time that ODST was made. If they had taken another couple months, they may have done it, but they had a deadline.

Odst was done (and I mean done. As in testing and all) by, like, march. That's fine and all, as those team members moved to reach (which will rock), but they had plenty of "time" before the deadline.

Its the hardship and tales of self sacrifice in life that makes us stronger people or, of course, an Overshield and freshly spawned Spartan Laser.

Um, it does rain in the game. I just played it again and it does indeed rain.

"Wake me...when you need me."

There is plenty of rain. Take off your VISR mode and enjoy it.

MX Time Gone

It would given the game more of an atmosphere and emotion

I've played through ODST several times and I can't believe I never noticed the lack of precipitation. I realize now that the first trailer for Halo 3: Recon/ODST did in fact have the Recruit going through Mombasa as it was raining. It gave the video so much more emotion, feeling and set the mood really well. Now I wish there was rain, sadface.

There is rain on Rally Point Night, it's really hard to see at first. But it's there, not sure if it's in campaign though

The whole stroyline only lasts just over 24 hours I think so how would it rain in 24 hours??

lol I'm not sure what the ability to rain has to do with the story lasting less than a day. Same as anytime it rains.

And it definitely does rain in New Mombasa Streets sections, anyway.
