I'm sure there are plenty of you who have played Halo so much that you've tried to find bugs and glitches that allow you to do things that you're not supposed to. I know plenty of times I would save a game at one specific save-point right before a massive dog fight or a frenzied assault, but one particular save stands out.

During "Assault On The Control Room," shortly before you make it to the ground level for that first battle on the snow, there's a bridge that goes from one side of the cavern (the one surrounding the future battlefield) to the other, as well as Grunts, Elites and Shades set up to impede your progress. While passing the bridge, Foehammer, a Pelican-guided pack of Marines (much of the Marines you fight with throughout the game) comes flying across the scene being chased by a Banshee and taking fire. They drop to the ground and let out a Warthog and some Marines and then head off.

Now, normally you're supposed to cross the bridge, go down to the ground level and fight alongside the Marines. Have you ever tried to drop down to the ground right as you start at the bridge. I've spent literally hours trying to figure out a way to end up on the ground, well before the Covenant arrives, with just the Marines below. I'd clear out the Grunts and Banshees and try dropping down to that ledge on the cavern-wall, then dropping onto a tree or sliding along the wall to the bottom. That didn't work. I tried plasma nading the nearby Shade onto the ledge then try to get into it before it slid to the bottom, that didn't work. I tried a milieu of ways and more times than I can count. Did anyone do anything like this, or ever try this specifically with any success? Everytime I'd get to the bottom, no matter how lightly I thought I hit the ground or how close I fell, I'd always die...

Yes, I have done it and it takes an assload of practice. I used the Shade as you described. Just keep trying, you have the right idea.

There is an easier way, you just need two people. Have one guy jump down to the cavern thingy, then send down the second guy. Go as low as you can without falling off. Have one guy jump off and die. Wait a little. Have the other guy jump down to the edge part, when he hits the edge, the other guy should spawn on the edge. Then slide down from there.

There is an even easier way than that. As soon as you go onto the bridge turn left.Jump down off the bridge and you should land on a ledge where you can leap onto another ledge and so on until its safe to just jump.however if you continue on through the level you will come to that bridge with the two banshees on it, but you cant get through the door as it is locked.

by far the easiest with 2 people by theres no point anyways becuase you get to a point in the game where a door is lokced adn you can't get through so its stupid.

yes on two betreyals (the same level backwards) i got stuck on the locked-off skybridge and my m8 shot the banshee

i was stuck on the 2 deck bridge like you said

i jumped off the one of the ends (forgot which end) and hit a cliff ledge, from there i went down to another close ledge

below that are icy ledges far below then the final drop

i was on coop. me and my m8 jumped for the icy ledge

i fell and died, then he jumped

just as i spawned he was slipping off the icy ledge, so i spawned on it, then we followed it around and dropped near the ghosts parked on 2BT's, i touchdown and lose shields. TADAAA

bah

What do you mean locked door? You can finish off the entire level after jumping down to the bottom. Don't believe me? Go here.

im not even going to try watching that movie but i swear that when i did it the door was well and truely locked

bah

I don't know which door you are referring to, but all you have to do is grab the last banshee and fly up to the bridges. The side with the door on the bottom is the side to go to. Then, just land on the bridge that has the unlocked door at the end and continue to the end.

It's much easier with two, when you get down you can find the banshees that arn't manned by anyone and fly around the deserted level.
