I'm sure there are plenty of you who have played Halo so much that you've tried to find bugs and glitches that allow you to do things that you're not supposed to. I know plenty of times I would save a game at one specific save-point right before a massive dog fight or a frenzied assault, but one particular save stands out.
During "Assault On The Control Room," shortly before you make it to the ground level for that first battle on the snow, there's a bridge that goes from one side of the cavern (the one surrounding the future battlefield) to the other, as well as Grunts, Elites and Shades set up to impede your progress. While passing the bridge, Foehammer, a Pelican-guided pack of Marines (much of the Marines you fight with throughout the game) comes flying across the scene being chased by a Banshee and taking fire. They drop to the ground and let out a Warthog and some Marines and then head off.
Now, normally you're supposed to cross the bridge, go down to the ground level and fight alongside the Marines. Have you ever tried to drop down to the ground right as you start at the bridge. I've spent literally hours trying to figure out a way to end up on the ground, well before the Covenant arrives, with just the Marines below. I'd clear out the Grunts and Banshees and try dropping down to that ledge on the cavern-wall, then dropping onto a tree or sliding along the wall to the bottom. That didn't work. I tried plasma nading the nearby Shade onto the ledge then try to get into it before it slid to the bottom, that didn't work. I tried a milieu of ways and more times than I can count. Did anyone do anything like this, or ever try this specifically with any success? Everytime I'd get to the bottom, no matter how lightly I thought I hit the ground or how close I fell, I'd always die...
