So, I decided to try and get the firefight 200k achievements by myself, as it is quite a pain to do without a MM system. However, I am much better at MM than I am at campaign type games. I found it extremely hard to get 10k points, let alone 200k by myself. Watching your back is hard to do alone.

So the question is, what are some tips for getting this by myself? Are there any maps that are more conducive to going alone than others, and if so, which ones? What difficulty should I play at? What secondary skulls should I activate? What strategies should I use on map X? I'm looking for all the advice I can get.

I'll be on my own side.

Obviously, some maps are harder than others. I have some general tips for a couple maps. I don't think you should activate any secondary skulls; they don't help.

Security Zone - Easiest one for me. Just stay at the top, use mainly your pistol, save the SMG for Drones. Dealing with Brutes is easy, just stick them. If you run out of pistol ammo, grab a Carbine from the Jackals. When you find a Fuel Rod Cannon, pick that up and empty it as fast as possible on the Brutes or large groups of other guys. Pick up the Laser only to take out Wraiths, then drop it again (preferably down by the rocket spawn so it's safe to grab). Be sure to carry the Laser on you in between each weapon drop so it doesn't disappear if it has ammo left in it.

Lost Platoon - Chopper.

Alpha Site - Stay at the spawn area, since the enemies can only come at you from two angles. Go grab the rockets when safe, but stay at the spawn, use the pistol and large amounts of grenades on the clumped groups of enemies. The biggest threat here is cloaked Brutes.

Windward - Keep moving. Do not attempt to camp anywhere because you'll get surrounded. Your pistol will be the weapon of choice here, along with the rockets. Save rockets for when the Phantoms drop large waves of enemies on the landing pads. Easy Killionaires. Don't use the mounted missile turrets; you need to be as mobile as possible. Shoot down the Banshees with a charged plasma pistol when they fly at you.

If I remember more I'll post it.

windward is easy, because of the simple layout and no engineers or vehicles. of course, play on easy.

turn on the GruntBP skull and IWHBYD skull (mostly to keep you going).

DO NOT GRAB THE POWER WEAPONS- keep your magnum, and ONLY use your sniper on the brutes. after ever 5 waves, grab a hammer and camp at the top of one of the landing pads- as soon as ONE enemy reveals itself, kill it, and charge down the bridge swinging your hammer- EASY killionaire.

Thanks for the advice. I wasn't sure if I should play on easy or not, as it can take forever to get any points that way. But I guess if you're by yourself, that's good.

I already got Alpha site for the vidmaster achievement, and I got with two other guys to get Rally Point the other night. I just don't feel like waiting for hours in the classifieds every time.

I've seen the Lost Platoon advice for the chopper, but the other stuff is good too. Is it possible to jack a banshee and use that on Windward? If so, would that be good? I suppose the maps you haven't listed are a bit harder, so I may have to get some more guys together. My biggest issue hasn't been killing things. I'm a smart player and now how to kill things, but when you have buggars coming from the front and back, as well as nades flying all around you, not much ammo, and skulls on that makes their shields stronger, it's really hard. If you stay camped in a room you get naded out and your options are extremely limited. If you're in the open, you get shot from everywhere. And on maps with vehicles, there are things shooting at you you can't even get to.

But then again, I was trying on heroic/normal in order to get points quickly. I guess easy is the way to go.

I t ttok me 3 hours last night on easy to get just one by myself I would suggest getting a friend to come over and help you. Also when they start turning on mythic swap out your smg for a plasma pistol. A charge wil take out there shields then pull out your magnum and pop em in the head.

You CAN do all firefight achievements by yourself. I'm saying this because I did. Play on easy, just use your automag all the time (at least 4 waves, before the brute cheftains come) and try to get a lot of headshots on grunts, turn the GBP Skull ON, so if 4 grunts are coming towards you, get a headshot and the explosion will hurt them. I don't recommend using any oter secondary skull, but hey! that's your call. The enemies are dropped in phantoms almost in all maps, and in every reinforcement (every wave). Just use rocket launchers or fuel rod gun and try always to get multikill medals. Always grab a gravity hammer, and instead of firing it, just melee all grunts and jackals. You'll get a hammer spree after defeating 5 enemies, and after 10 you'll get dream crusher medal. This is worth like 3000 points. After you getting it, just kill anything so you can start the counter of the gravuty hammer again. It'll take you from 90 minutes to 2 hours. In crater, use this tips. In lost platoon, quickly grab the spartan laser and hijack a brute chopper. Here you can get splatter spree and vehicular man slaughter medals instead of hammer spree and dream crusher. Use the spartan laser for wraith tanks. In bouns round, try to splatter all grunts you can, you'll get awarded almost every bonus with a Killionarie if you do it well. In rally point, always take out the wraith by climbing and destroying it by melee attacks (always be careful and make sure that it won't splatter you). For the others enemies, do the same that you did on crater. In security zone, always take down the wraiths before doing anything else. Remember that here you have the rocket launcher to get a lot of multikills (do NOT waste rocket launcher on wraiths, you can take a lot more deaths than the triple kill you get for the wraith). When the aliens like-hives come out (drones), they always do between waves 2-3 in all rounds, take the deployable gun turret and take them out quickly so you can get a multikill medal. In alpha site, always take the rocket launcher and make multikills (just shoot before the enemies jump out of the phantom so they don't scatter and you can take them all out), use a hammer here too. Windward is one of the easiest to get to 200k (the easiest is lost platoon), also there's a rocket spawn here. Remember to use your grenades, too. Chasm Ten. Now we're talking. Just take the rocket launcher and go for the charges, then return. Gard position. Take all enemies out from here, don't waste your rocket launcher. There'll be a lot of plasma pistol on the floor like in wave 4, if the engineers bother you (of course they will), just EMP (fire an overcharged plasma to it) and that's it. Bye to all overshields to enemies. Use your rocket launchers when you think you can get multikills. Remember that is a spawn every round (weapon drop). And finally, last exit. Here you can hijack a ghost and splatter all enemies so you'll get splatter sprees and vehicular man slaughter medals. There's a rocket launcher spawn here, too. Try to use it well and get multikill medals. This map is very easy, too. Now, the primary skulls. Thogh luck is almost every round active, but there's no much problem about that, you can spaltter or stick grenades anyway. Catch is a problem in maps such as lost platoon or last exit, but if you get out of the brute chopper or the ghost, and take all the grunts out with melee attacks using the gravity hammer, it is REALLY EASY to dodge all the plasma grenades. With brutes, while they prepare the spike grenade before throwing it, stick them first and then dodge their grenades, you'll get more anyway. You can even get the most difficult medal in ODST, the Sticky Fingers medal (10 stick grenades in a row without dying). Black Eye skull is the same, just kill with the hammer using melee attacks and if you get hurt, you'll recharge your shield very quickly. Just be careful when the drones show up, they aren't easy to kill with the hammer, so take them out using the deployable gun turret. You can also take cover and the drones will get to you on land, so it'll be very easy to take them out by a melee attack using the hammer, but this way you won't get multikills medals. Tilt skull, just assassin enemies as much as you can. Keep taking out the jackals and grunts with melee attacks using the hammer, but brutes try to assasinate them. Always when facing a brute equipped with a hammer, come near to it, and when it's gonna attack you, go round it and assassinate it. It's very easy to get hammers without wasting the charges or wasting bullets. Fire the hammers only when facing 2 hunters (because if its just one you can easily take it out by melee attacks in its back). Famine Skull. Well, who cares? It's very rare that you'll pick a brute shot, an spiker, a plasma rifle, etc. The only thing you'll have to use is the plasma pistol in Chasm Ten. And if you get a hammer with this skull on...doesn't matter! You don't need to have any charges left to use it for melee attacks. And...Mythic Skull. Alone, it changes the gameplay, but not that much. But in combo...Imagine you're playing heroic solo and turns on Tough Luck, Catch, Tilt and Mythic. What you're gonna do? die.
Even in easy the combo between Tilt and Mythic is very annoying. But Mythic only activates after set 4, and I don't think you'll need to get to that set, because in set 3 you'll have the 200k. Anyway, I hope that helps anybody.

I got 200k by myself at two maps and took hours though.
I advise going to Windward and Platoon

Juan Bernardo

I like to challenge myslef and play Solo Legendary Firefight, but its hard. I play on CHasm Ten and Sit in the hallway with the snipers, because they hardly ever come in there. I got the 200k achievement doing this, but it took me like 80 minutes. I died on the second set first round and fith wave. But I suggest co-op because its funner/easier.

This may very well be the largest wall of text i have ever seen in my life. That said, i agree with your post, or at least as much as i read of it (playing on easy gets you the 200k very easily, and the automag owns)

If you do it on Easy be sure to set aside two hours. The only secondary Skulls to use is Grunt Birthday Party since the explosion causes a small amount of splash damage. It'll kill the fourth grunt in a pack when you headshot the first three. IWHBYD for flavour. The only maps I've done are Crater and Rally Point at night to avoid Snipers. Engineers are easy since they die to a single PP Overcharge on Easy. Keep the AutoMag and Plasma Pistol at all times. Trade the AutoMag for the Gravity Hammer as soon as possible. Keep the SSMG for Drones. Kill yourself when you get an Invincible medal. Circle strafe and beatdown Hunters.

The basic strategy is to Headshot everything. Don't Overcharge the Brutes, just rapid fire the PP, it pops them nearly as fast and saves ammo, then Headshot. Works on Chieftan's too, just circle strafe around them when they wind up their swing. When you kill your first Chieftan swap the AutoMag for the Gravity Hammer. If there are more Hammer Chieftans about just swing away.

When you get to the last Gravity Hammer, keep it. Save the ammo for tight clusters of enemies that will guarentee MultiKills and just melee everything. It'll be a breeze when BlackEye turns on since that will reset your Stamina constantly. When you melee Brutes the first time they'll do their flinching thing. Take that time to circle behind them and try to Assassinate.

The reasoning is simple: You get a higher multipler for multi-kills and weapon sprees. As soon as you get a Dream Crusher medal kill someone with another weapon, even a regular melee and then go back to Hammering everything. So starting out the points will come slowly but the more skulls that get turned on and the more multikills you get with weapon sprees the more points you'll score. For both my maps I didn't have to go too far into the third set to finish.

People say to Chopper for Lost Platoon but I haven't had the best luck Splattering enemies because of Tough Luck. But it's the same theory: Get a Vehicluar Manslaughter and then kill something with the AutoGuns. Then back to Splattering. Ghost for Last Exit is the same thing.

Use the spartan laser for wraith tanks. In bouns round, try to splatter all grunts you can, you'll get awarded almost every bonus with a Killionarie if you do it well.

We Surround Them!

Wow really? I got all but one of the map achievements by myself and the map I never tried it on was Security Zone. I found that the "night" maps were some of the easiest ... like Crater (Night) and Chasm Ten where you can use your VISR mode almost exclusively. Alpha Site is another easy one to use VISR mode all the time and earn it. But the easiest for me was Lost Platoon. I ran rough-shot over the Covenant on that one thanks to the Spartan Laser & several Brute Choppers.

We Surround Them!

In fact on Last Exit and Lost Platoon I did the same strategy ... grab a Ghost (LE) or Chopper (LP) and go for Vehicular Manslaughter medals. Run over 10 Covenant - then shoot ONE thing to re-set - and start all over. On both LE and LP I would use the guns of the vehicle for Drones or hop off and use an SMG - but everything else I'd stay on the vehicle.

On Last Exit drive a Ghost up onto the upper platforms (where your drop ship arrives to whisk you away at the end of the game) and line up at the end of the narrow corridor with the ticket booths as one wall and the concrete barriers another. It creates a funnel for you to drive up fast and splatter everything that comes up the stairs. If you blow up your Ghost just grab a new PP and jump off the walls from this area and blast one below to "stun" it then hijack and run a few things over in the roundabout to get your chain started of Splatter Spree and Vehicular Manslaughter.

Some very sound advice from everyone here. I did all the 200K achievements Solo on Normal difficulty, but for Alpha Site, which came from one of my Endure attempts (still haven't got it, but one day...), so I know for a fact they are feasible.

Now, I'm just going to add one thing: when playing Solo, beware of the Grunts. Do not underestimate the little bastards, and even when Catch isn't on. You don't have teammates to watch your back, and sometimes, it's easy to forget that Grunt in the corner while you're on a killing spree. Check out your back, and keep moving. Shoot grunts as soon as you can. Forget waiting for them to be all together. Grunts together with nades = bad.

This particularly applies to maps where you basically camp a position with multiple entrances, like Windward in the middle building, Chasm Ten at Spawns/Rocket, Lost Platoon if you stay on its top floor (which you really shouldn't, but still), Crater near the spawns, etc.

my favourite map is lost platoon.
i either barricade myself with barricades i push with a hog/chopper,run around in a chopper and splatter evrything,or take the sniper,an SMG( i use it instead of the auto mag for its power)and take down shields with the sniper and grunts, jackals drones and shieldless brutes with the SMG by firng bursts

I only tried it once on normal and once on heroic. The problem is I'm impatient and didn't have any strategy. Firefight is fun with others, but I just want to get it over with solo. It takes forever to get up points and I wanted to do it quickly so I could go back to playing Halo MM. But like I said, I'm much better at MM than campaign. I think they are very different skillsets to a certain extent.

A tosser is the same as a wanker. To toss oneself off is to fondle the trouser weasel.

Easy will virtually guarentee your nondeath. But it's going to take a while. The points do rack up faster the higher into the rounds and waves you go from more Skulls adding to your multipler. Just set aside two hours per map.
