ODST was supposed to be this amazing game. But it came out not many sales, and not alot of people like it. (Of course alot of people on here like it) Most people I know don't like it. But what made it such a flop?

IMO, due to many Halo players not caring about the campaign. I know many that only play MM and didn't want a game that only pits you against AI enemies.

a lot of people like multiplayer for halo. those people complained because there was none. those who liked the campaign were happy and didn't say much because they were satisfied.

that and the whole "pay for maps you already bought" thing

Greetings from Sydney.

I don't believe ODST was supposed to be THAT big of a game premiere. Bungie themselves even thought of it an expansion, at first.

Reach will be much bigger.

The over exaggerated hype for it. Other than that it is a good game IMO.

Hey.

Nothing really new... and anything that was new ended fast, or was repetitive. VISR, the new health system, yes were altered or new and a few weapons, but you adapted to that pretty quickly and it became old very fast.

How is ODST a flop? Do you have actual sales numbers to lend credence to your claim, or is it just based on hearsay?

Hey.

I don't enjoy about the fact that enemies instantly react. In real life it would take, I don't know maybe around half a second or less to react, not instant.

It wasn't that much of a flop. It's just that, that disappointed people sounds loader than happy people. I, for one, thought that ODST was great, but I didn't go scream it out, while anyone that didn't like would go somewhere (most likely this forum) and scream out their complete and utter hatred for Bungie for making this game.

Also, because of some stuff, it was made for a very narrow audience. The people who loves campaign got a good, but very short campaign, leaving them unsatisfied. The people that loves multiplayer got Firefight, but apparently, good multiplayer=Matchmaking.
To complement this, we got all the Halo 3 multiplayer maps, but most really serious players already had them so they got mad, since they had to pay for them again...
All the people in between was the people who could enjoy ODST to the fullest, and they're not many ;P

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think this is how it went ;P

I really hope people who read this join SIP like I did and will finally be able to finish Endure, Annual or Deja Vu! I didn't regret joining in anyway shape or form so I hope you don't either!

It was a success and a failure great sales but no new multiplayer (global)

that and the whole "pay for maps you already bought" thing

Well Gears of War 2 suffers from the same thing. They put all of their maps on a buyable disc after they all came out.
