Subject: Cencorship's Latest Outrage.

I AM WIN WIV LEET WEPENZ

I just heard on the news that 2 major highstreet chains in Britain have stopped selling Manhunt because of a murder commited by a kid last year who was apparently obsessed with it. It's a shame that such close minded thinking brings rise to games being villified in the press when the individual and his parents (he's 17 and the game is rated 18) are to blame. I'd like to hear what others think about this development, but please dont post useless replys like MANHUNT SUCKS ANYWAY!!!, that's not the point.

Killing someone isn't a game's fault. There are deeper things that cause people to want to kill. Blaming the game is just a quick and superficial solution.

Rockstar HAS been on a "let's see how much we can shock them" bent lately, But I am a strong believer in Parental Responsibility. Too many today try to pass of the job of Parenthood to the TV and Games, and don't realize how badly they are destroying their childrens mental and emotional state.

This is all I will say about it, because it is at it's core a Political issue, and not really appropriate, but I feel your pain....

Stores have the right to carry products that they want, and not carry products they don't. If you don't like the fact that they don't want to carry some item, don't shop there for anything. Real easy. Real simple.

I gotta agree with Obbi on this one,I play Rockstar's games and I'm perfectly fine.I hate when the press blames a game for something,it's sooo stupid.

With B.B. gone, the passion of Bungie.net has lessened.

Stuff like this amazes me...

<snickers> Blaming someone's ignorance/immaturity on a game is a very ignorant and immature thing to do...

I remember hearing, a year ago, about someone trying to blame Halo for the DC Snipers...

Supposedly, one of the snipers said that he used Halo as some sort of training simulation...

...Biggest bullcrap I ever did hear....

He lured him into a park and stabbed him and beat him with a claw hammer.
I'll admit the similarities are there, but he's obviously not a sane person.

Five Tenets of Bungie.net Forum Life:
1. Trolls will always be well fed.
2. Blame-ability thy name is stosh.
3. Bungie has no control over retail prices.
4. Watch out for low-flying defense drones.
5. Seven is not optional, but rather, an inevitability.

Dunno, but in my eyes this is just one more example of the british media's ability of brainwashing the public and politicians around to the media's point of view (and all so usually they can portray themselves as 'the voice of the people', in order to cover their own agenda)
Another nice example: The Brass Eye paedophile episode, and the following vilification of Chris Morris.....

Hmmmmm.... I heard it was Halo, but perhaps someone said Silent Scope as well.

My source wasn't really a news source... I got my info from a chapter-founder who said he heard it on the news.

Perhaps you are right.

Halo isn't realistic enough to be a good Training game.

On that note: Someone could Kill someone with a pack of kindergarteners and blame Full Spectrum Warrior

What you don't like GTA?

  • 07.29.2004 5:01 PM PDT

GAME are -blam!-, not Rockstar. That's one of the chains that banned Manhunt, along with Dixons (also -blam!-). I'm surprised Woolies haven't jumped on board though.

You think it's just the Brittish media? Ha! America's media is worse!

Oh by the way goweb is not a moderator and should be banned for impersination.
