If Bungie DID include this aspect into the game....omg...I'd be speechless...like someone said earlier, I'm sure they definitely considered it. That would be soo slick though....customizable weather effects...or even random weather effects would be fine for me..like it changed each time you played it...The whole rain effect would be awesome for every outdoor level...snow would only work in the arctic-type levels...accumulation of snow/rain in holes is asking for a little too much (this isn't Red Faction-type destruction)..but a fair thought...the wind would be cool, but thats only audio and maybe a few trees/dust/water/flag being blown around...I'd say the rain then the rain creating mud in the outdoor MP level would defintely be the best bet for weather...as for the time of day goes...HELL YEAH, that would be the best right there...im sure thats not asking for too much..and MAY have been incorporated into the game...but there's no way to tell until November 9th. Tornadoes and Earthquakes....hahaha...that would be sweet....but hell no.

I don't know if anyone here has played the Soldner demo. I made my own server, and as an admin, I could choose what hour of the day (1-24) and about six weather conditions.

Yeah. I would totally settle for just rain as far as weather goes. As far as time of day is concerned, I dont think that their is any reason why it wouldnt be in the game. The only way i can think of that it wouldnt be in their is if Bungie didnt think of it (and i highly doubt that). I would love just night or day for an option. Im not ruling any of it out just yet but some of it very well might not be in the game.

actually in those 2 screen shots of the sky in zanzibar... the weather is the same... its sunny with some clouds

I have to disagree. What the Kikizo video it has some clouds but it is very sunny. Now watch the press conference video, no sun at all the entire ground is darker with less shadows. Completely different weather.

Dark from press conferense

I could not get an image from the kikizo video, but if you watch it they are very different.

I wouldn't worry too much, we will find out when we get the game.

I think it would be a pretty neat idea, it would change the strategies for sure...

Customizable weather would be soooo cool… and if its that cool then bungie must have thought of it too. As FunkDawg said, we really only have just a glimpse of what Halo 2 has in store for us. I also think that it would be no problem for them to put it in, I mean the game is 5 times bigger than the original, I think there is a very good chance that it is already in there. The evidence in the pic is enough to show it.
In fact, when theres more rain or whatever in the air, the game doesn’t have to render as much of the backround and stuff.
Just imagine… Being perched on a ledge in face numbing rain, only able to see 50 yards ahead of you, and – Blam!! – the other team comes storming in… but then you go hide in a puddle and all is well :-)

"The way of the warrior is the path of shadow. The gift of the warrior is to percieve that which cannot be seen. The spirit of the warrior is to strike in a single moment. The destiny of the warrior is balance in all things. And when balance is lost... all that is left is the reckoning."

They could always just use the Xbox's internal clock, just have four times of day: Dawn, Day, Dusk, Night. And remember, PGR2, a Microsoft game btw just like Halo2, had weather effects and time of day modes for MP. It wouldn't slow the game down because it would be just an overlay onto your screen. Anyways, Chaos Theory, which looks to have even better graphics, has realtime rain and it wouldn't slow down the game.

I would like to see things like:

Blood Gulch flooded- the little hills like the one w/ the rocket on it and the camo/ oversheild would be islands and around the bases would be like knee- waist deep water.

Zanzibar tropical storm- the shoreline is higher with larger waves. the attacking team spawns on where the beach used to be it like waist deep water. the bottom of the base where the flag is is like one big puddle. the roof is leeking.

sidewinder snowstorm- there is no ice at all on the ground and wherever there are the steps going up to the cliffs, they are filled in w/ snow and its like a big ramp. also, there is a couple feet of snow in front of the base doors and a little slush inside the base.

any map nighttime combined with afformetioned effects- played farcry? like the map monkey bay nighttime there could be small lights in key places providing some light. in bloodgulch the inside of each base could be lit according to team color. there could also be dark corners perfect for sniping.

"Carney just got back from a research expedition to North Carolina, where he was gathering valuable information on weather systems. We had to call it a vacation to get The Man to give him leave, that's how dedicated he is. Oh wait, did I say weather? That's a big thumbed nose to the censors" - Weekly Update

Did anyone notice this? It sounds like their might be a bigger chance of it making it into the game than we though!!

This image shows the sky grey and cloudy same as the E3 press conference showing.

This video(right click save as) shows the same type of demo during E3 for the players but the sky is bright and sunny.

It'd be hilarious if a volcano errupted and burned everything in the level so it would ruin everything, ha!

Imagine it being pitch black and you are stuck guarding the base in a level like Blood Gulch. After your flashlight dies, you turn it off to charge the battery and run inside to stock up. You come back at and look around for enemies and cant see any over the hills. Then lightning flashes and for a split second the sky lights up like the middle of the day and you see a swarm from people coming at you. And just like that, they all disappear. Then they attack.

What are some cool scenarios? I talked about limited visibilty and being able to see the enemy during lightning; what are some other ideas? Also, please only submit ideas that are feasable.

Just think, rain or fog or nightime or snow would add so much strategy to the game.
White Team
Black team on night ops.
That'd be sweet.

Imagine playing Zanzibar with rolling fog. White Spartans vs. Elites. Spartans rely on stealth and camoflauge to try to make it as close to the base as the can without having to open fire. As team Alpah moves in towards the base, team Bravo provides cover sniping and, maybe more importantly, a decoy. If Alpha team is about to be spotted Bravo could lay down heavy fire to try and draw their attention while Alpha snuck in behind.

P.S. I have a very vivid imagination and a mind for strategy.
