Subject: I got conned 60 dollars to play the MLG playlist

I bought ODST.

I was very dissapointed by virtually every aspect of the game, personally. I played like maybe 3 levels of the campaign and had no desire to play it any further. I've played thru the campaigns in all of the previous games and they were 5 stars.

My favorite playlist was MLG, so I had no problem with the 60 dollar fee to play that playlist, until I recently learned that Bungie reneged on their word, again, by making the Mythic II content DLC compatible.

I recall original statements from Bungie about releasing the game as an expansion, and by extension, at a lower price. Either way, the main reason I purchased it was so that I could play the MLG playlist, under the false premise that the Mythic II map content would never be DLC material. Guess I was wrong taking them at their word.

Right now, I use my ODST disc as a coaster for the cup filled with tears of my sorrow. Does anyone else share a similar sentiment?

Discuss.

Disclaimer: I'm fully aware that MLG manages the aspects of their playlist, including the decision to include the Mythic II content to bring Heretic to their map rotation.

ODST was good for the roughly 8-10 hours of Campaign that I got beating it Solo-Legendary the day it came out, but now that I look back on it, I got 1 good map and a mini-game. I feel your pain.

Not me. If you bought an entire game just for one of the perks included with it (Mythic 2 map pack), you wasted your money then, just like you still wasted it now.

I fortunately bought ODST for the game itself, as well as the perks that came with it, and I am still very happy with my purchase. I'm actually happy to see Mythic 2 now available for those who don't have it and didn't buy ODST, because that means I'll get the maps more when matchmaking with randoms. It's win-win for me.

I beat the game on solo-legendary in one sitting. The game was so easy a 5 year old could be it on Legendary. It was very disappointing.

It sucked but I am willing to give Bungie a chance at Redemption with Halo Reach.

The Reach Beta is the only other thing of note, besides the lackluster campaign and firefight experience. I think I got some retarded sticker or something also, and my warthogs had flames on them. Or was that Halo Wars? I can't remember. Both games were very forgettable.

To you alright. Not to me. We can have differing opinions without either one of us being "wrong", you know?

I personally have a lot of fun playing and replaying the Campaign. Anyone can speedrun through it of course, but I actually take my time on each run. I appreciate the mood, the ambiance of it all, and particularly the Streets at Night, as a matter of fact.

As for it being easy, well, it's not Library-hard, I'll give you that.
It's entertaining enough to me, though.
I don't like dying over and over again because the game's uber-hard, personally.

For the record, I played through Legendary in 368 minutes (i.e. 6 hours and 8 minutes) total, on three different sittings/days, with a total of 56 deaths. You completed your run on one sitting, that's true, but played during a total of 349 minutes (i.e. 5 hours and 49 minutes), with 73 deaths.

My point being that whether it's short or not is a matter of opinion and perspective, since we played for roughly the same amount of time in our Legendary runs (though on three different days for me and a single one for you), as is the question of whether the game is too easy or not, since I don't particularly suck at it either (I did better than you on a deaths count).

lol How about instead of being condescending you TRY to explain how ODST is worth $60 to anyone who already has H3. Oh ya you can't because anything that comes out of your mouth would be some micky moused argument so save face because its OBVIOUS odst isn't worth $60 ESPECIALLY now that the maps are out.

Who is more foolish, the child afraid of the dark or the man afraid of the light?

~Maurice Freehill

I liked it...

It showed another side to the story of Halo. Instead of being a walking tank, you had to use the environment a bit more tactfully. That being said, the campaign was pretty good imo.

Of course Firefight would've been better with matchmaking, but it was still fun to play with friends.

lol How about instead of being condescending you TRY to explain how ODST is worth $60 to anyone who already has H3.

Fact is, the price point of a game isn't decided by what this or that potential buyer already bought, or not. Some buyers will have Halo 3. Others won't. It's irrelevant to the decision on the price point, ultimately.

The price point is decided based on marketing issues, i.e. getting the most sales out of the highest price point one can get, mainly.

Now, each Halo fan who already has the Halo 3 game is presented with ODST, for $60, which includes a new Campaign, a new Firefight game mode, all the map packs, Forge, Theater etc on a single disc that you can carry around with you, and potentially getting Recon perms.

For some people, getting the Recon perms will be worth the sixty bucks. It's not my case, and it seems pretty clear it isn't your case either, but for some people, it is.

Others will think that any new Campaign experience in the Haloverse and/or Firefight is worth the price tag alone, regardless of the Mythic disc. I'm actually one of them, there.

Others yet will consider that Heretic and the access to the MLG playlist was enough for them to buy the whole game, whatever its other contents were.

My point is: it's a matter of personal perspective.

It's well worth $60 for me. I play this game way more than others I already own. I have not wasted my money, personally, though it might be your case, depending on what you were searching for with this game, originally.

Microsoft controls what content gets put up into XBL Marketplace. Not Bungie. And I don't think Bungie ever said that Mythic II would never be release via DLC. To my knowledge the only word on it was that Shishka said "There are currently no plans to release Mythic II via DLC."

It doesn't sound like you were conned at all. It sounds like you made a choice, that in hindsight, looks rather poor. I'm in the same boat now with GoW3. Should I shell out another $40 for the 7 Challenges feature and some premium skins that Sony might release at a later date but have made no promise on?

This sums up my feelings pretty well.
I haven't played ODST since I got it really, but I still enjoyed the game.

If Firefight had MM I would still be playing it.
I bought ODST because it looked like it was going to be good(and it was, in my opinion), and because of the Halo 3 maps I didn't have(Mythic, Mythic II, and Legendary).

As far as I'm concerned:
Buying ODST let everyone who did so play in the restricted playlists before anyone else. That's your perk. That, and the Reach Beta.

We've had our time being the big kids on the playground, it's time to share the slide(Mythic II).

With that being said:
I knew that they'd put the maps out on the Marketplace.
Why?
Forsight and common sense, obviously some people don't have those.

If this is the state of my art, then I secede.

You didn't get conned into -blam!-. ODST was a good game, you just try and find everything wrong you can. I hate people like you...

Ooh, I love those people, the ones who decide to throw everything and the kitchen sink at you, as if an M16 does anything to a T-90. Oh, MLG player with noobtube instead? Congrats! You blew off one of my ablative plates!

no just no i love odst and completely disagree with you but that doesn`t mean i am a halo fanboy nor am i blind or idiotic you just don`t have enough patience to go around doing stuff i do

what is funny is you`ll get a good thread about odst and everyone will post good stuff and then a thread against odst comes up and all you get are bad comments about odst(most of which posted in the good thread)

STOP SENDING ME GROUP INVITES

first we get told that ODST will be an expansion, and be priced as such, as in not full price.

That didn't work out.

then we get told that the only way to get Mythic 2 is to get ODST. There were no plans to release it on the marketplace.

You really are fine with paying $60 for just playing a single playlist? That just seems like you being gouged.
