We are all going to get banned aren't we?

I asked this one the reach forum, but didn't get much of an answer.

Seeing how halo 3 had 20 and reach is to have 40 AI (or 20 vehicles.) how many did halo CE have?

probably about 6 friendly AI all together though I'd estimate 15.

At least 20, with a few vehicles. Remember, the big mobs fighting Covenant in Last Run.

well, i think the best indicator would be on the level "keyes" when the covies are fighting the flood. If i am right in my call on this, i think it was about 15-20 enemies. Max.

There's technically no limits in any game, I'm not sure what it's all about. Megabattles can generate over 50 covies to the battlefield at the same time in both games. Bungie must have some applied limits, though... there must be a reason for having the second group of covenant in the end of FR spawn in out of nowhere, instead of being there to fight from the beginning :P

there are limits to the processor and memory.

Bungie could make mega battles only because they made the ai dumb, which takes less processing power.

I did some counting in Final Run on Legendary, which is advertised as the largest battle, and saw the following:

The final segment starts with 20 total AI. The game spawns more covenant in once enough AI have died; typically one group of 4 after the 7 flood are gone, another when the elites and wraiths are out and the last after moderate losses / minor losses and agressive player. The game seems to try to stay under 20.

The first segment has a total of 27 AI. When killing the first group of 5 flood, the game lags very much. After they're dead, there's still a bit of lag until the hillside battle suffers losses. Killing the Banshee in the start seems to reduce the lag considerably. The lagging would be expected from the <20 point of view, but it's strange from the megabattle view.

So about 15-20 AI? Yet halo 3 has multiple times the amount of bad guys compared to AotCR yet the max for halo 3 was 20?

You would assume they increased the number of possible AI but that's not the case. There are the same amount of enemies in ever Halo game.

It's something that I'm glad they finally addressed.

In total, there are probably about up to 10 actors in Halo CE in each level, but there are a lot of actor variants.

For example, here are some actor variants from AotCR:

elite commander energy sword, elite commander plasma rifle, elite major plasma rifle, elite major needler, elite minor, etc.

Now for the AI, I don't know. :S
