Yeah, this is very annoying. After I heard about the servers being shut down, I want to play some Halo 2.

Says something about the maps when trying to go to match making. So I go to content download to re download the maps and it says "Could not download content list. Please try again later."

I went to my 360 HDD and deleted the maps and cleared the cache, but it still does the same thing.

How are we supposed to give Halo 2 a send off when we can't even play it?!

Same here. I wanted to give Halo 2 Matchmaking a proper burial, but now it looks like I can't. Makes me sadface.

In the meantime do you think it would be a good idea to buy the Halo 2 Multiplayer Map Pack or would it be a waste of money? I ordered it from Amazon and I'd like to know if I need to cancel that order before it's too late.

Guys, read my post on the 2nd page!

You don't have to buy the map packs or anything. MS is putting the maps back on the servers.

GOOD NEWS EVERYONE!

I just got off the phone with Microsoft and they said they're going to make an exception with Halo 2, and put the DLC back up on the servers!

He told me keep an eye out within the next week or two, and there will be an announcement made that the maps will be available on Xbox.com.

I sure hope they do man. I gave up the idea a long time ago of getting the halo 2 maps. Nothing would make me happier than to download those maps again and do some work on HALO 2 one last time!

  • 02.06.2010 2:47 PM PDT

Well that's certainly good news. The map pack CD makes me mostly good, but I'm still missing a couple of them. It'll be nice to get them safely on my hard drive before the lights get turned off...though I'm not sure how useful this will be once Halo 2 for live shuts down...

I really wish Halo 2 has been released for regular pc.

  • 02.06.2010 2:48 PM PDT

I have bought all the dlc , but it says it is corrupted. and now I cant download it !! so cant play the damn game in its final hour. I am gutted, bungie should be ashamed, what a way to go out on the greatest game of its time. you must be so proud.

  • 02.06.2010 3:21 PM PDT

someone on the phone told you that ? welcome to call centre culture. Telling you what you want to hear to get you off the phone. call again , see if you get the same answer .

  • 02.06.2010 3:25 PM PDT

Considering all the shenanigans going on with the map downloading for Halo 2...is anyone starting to think there was more to Bungie putting all the Halo 3 maps in with ODST in disc format than just profit gauging?

Welcome to tech support land. Where all they want is you off the line for the next person. They will even tell you halo 3 is coming for pc soon. They also gave me a dead email once too.

Also, its not just h2, its also kotor, mechassualt, and other games with DLC. I will also make a video when i get back home (im away right now).

Ok, i found the reason for damaged maps:
When you download the maps it is signed to your xbox/360.
When you get your 360 fix'd due to RROD, e74, or whatever they send you another 360. Then they dont work due to the DRM they use. Since they shutdown the DLC server, there is NO MORE maps, and the playlists are messed up too. I learned that when i got my 360 fixed btw.

Signatures are for squares.

This is absolutely ridiculous.

How are we supposed to play together, if Microsoft is doing this kind of -blam!-?

First they take away support for original Xbox.
Then they remove the Live support of original Xbox titles.
And now they pull DLC from the market place?

Whoever the hell is in charge over there, needs punched in the mouth.

Thank you so much urk! I cannot tell you how happy I am that you guys are going to try and asses this problem, for a fairly small number of people.

ha, "asses" but nice to see bungie still cares

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I fixed that the second after you pressed the quote button. I just noticed that too.

Spartans are from Venus and Elites are from Uranus

I just hope a solution is found soon. I don't want people getting online and finding they can't play and giving up right there.

YES! I can't believe Kotaku actually reported about this. I shot them an e-mail about this with this thread linked in the e-mail, but thought they would just look past it.

Hopefully this is what tells MS to get the damn DLC on the servers.

Awesome news =)

I just hope they won't be stuck back up on the same server(s) (though they probably will...). Last time I downloaded them I remember those things being uber slow at downloading with multiple error-break-things meaning it'd stop and have to be restarted. Fortunately it'd still have how much was downloaded but that meant each looooooong download had to be supervised x.x

Good to hear that (hopefully) the Halo 2 maps will come back online to download. Still sucks about all the other games though (KoToR and Star Wars Battlefront 2 are two that I still have). I was hoping to get their DLC before everything got shut down.
