I don't know about anybody else, but so far what's been revealed about Halo 2 makes it seem more like Halo 1.5, which is fine with me 'cause I don't want that many changes to the gameplay. But with respect to characters and weaponry. I know they are keeping a lot secret from us, and I'd like to see all the originals back in the second game, but is anybody else getting antsy? Wonder what's in store for E3.....

Actually, Halo for PC is more like Halo 1.5.

Halo for PC runs on the same basic system as Halo for XBox.
But Halo 2 is an entirely different game in a different setting.
Close, nice try though.

What? I think you miss-read my post, I don't mean that Halo 2 could technically be Halo 1.5, I just mean that they have mostly revealed old weapons and characters but not many new ones yet. I just can't wait for new material that's all. Call my subject a metaphor if you must.

Oh, yeah. Didn't catch that. Sorry.

Personally, I think they've introduced plenty.
The new plasma rifles.
New Covie Vehicles.
The ATV.
The new versions of all the human weapons.
Etc.
Either way, the game'll be great.

Nah, i think it wont be halo 1.5 because it's not gonna be on halo (well, it MIGHT a bit), which might change things dramatically in terms of gameplay

to put it in simple terms, to have a game you need:
* Game Engine
* 3D models /Meshes
* Skins to cover those 3D models

now HALO 2 has a new game engine, new levels, new skins for those levels.
new 3D charachters, and new skins for those Charachters.
new music.

If you look at it, its basically a new game.
now they might import certain 3D models and skins from HALO 1, but I doubt it.

bah

EzCompany2Squad hit the nail right on the head. When you start over from scrath, you have not just a full new version number, but a whole new game.

I think they've told us enough new feautes to warrent the 2. Actually I think they've added in more to this sequel that we know about already than most other devs do for sequels.

1. Far superior graphics engine
2. At least 3 new weapons (different versions of others such as needler and possibly pistol)
3. Dual Weilding
4. Vehicle Hi-jacking
5. AI can drive
6. New alien vehicles, ATV and variety of warthog models. Plus upgrade ghost and banshee (now have super speed mode)
7. Meelee combos
8. Xbox Live play (expect every live feature to be utilized, ie DLC, Rankings, clan support (new feature to live) etc...)!
9. New Multiplayer game types (only one we know about right now though is Assualt or its called something like that)
10. Play as elite in multi.
11. 4 teams in multi.
12. All new single player game
13. New multiplayer maps

I think that's pretty much it. The best part is though, we still don't know everything! Halo 2 truely will be the greatest game of all time. Count on it!

Yes, but if all of those things are used to portray the same things as they were in the first game, then it's the same game.

You could go off and use the Far Cry engine to rebuild the original Halo, it would be all new models, an all new engine, and all new high quality skins, but it would be the same game, because despite the technical differences, all the interactions will be the same, same weapon balance, same tactics to defeat the same enemies, same levels, same preferred weapon combos.

Halo 2 has new weapons which will change the balance of the game, new enemies, and new ways for old enemies to act, and most importantly, new environments for it all to happen in.

Halo 2 isn't Halo 1.5 because the things that define how you play it are different, and would still be different even if the old game engine, models, and skins were perfectly intact.
