Subject: Put Halo 2 in the xbox arcade!!!

Halo 2 is my favorite game of the series period, hell it was the entire reason why i got XBL 5 years ago. If you ask me i dont think H3 can even hold a candle to it(although i think H3 is still a good game). Now although i do not agree with microsofts decision to pull all xbox originals, i understand that it may be necessary for further enhancement on XBL. This being said Halo 2 was the game that really got XBL going and paved the way, you cant argue that. I spent so many hours with my friends playing it over the years it makes me sad knowing it is going to go. I believe that it should be made into an xbox arcade or xbox original game we can download and continue to be able to play. They did it with Halo 1, only thing i would request differnt is to keep multiplayer with it. I dont think that sounds impossible and people would certainly buy it, i know i would. On a side note to bungie: I am one of the lucky few who has all the working H2 maps on my 360 still and can play, i would recommend putting the content back up for download for now, or getting rid of the matchmaking restrictions for those who cant play cause they dont have the maps, i have them but many of my friends dont. Also if this does not happen, Halo 2 will have a very small going away party on the 14th.

You can still play Halo 2 all you want as long as you have a disk. You just can't play online. You can still play campaign, and local matches using split screen / system link or LAN.

It's a little too late for that >_>

I would suggest you go and look at a lot of the forums, cause im not the only person who thinks that. You are not really helping with anything so yea.

There isn't anything that can be done from Bungie's end. Its all Microsoft. The main reason for the removal has to be the 100 person limit on friends lists caused by Halo 2. If that is a big complaint from the entire Xbox community, it makes business sense to fix this and upset the few thousand people that play Halo 2 and the few other big xbox games. Look at this...

Live activity from January 25th:
1 Halo 2
2 Star Wars: Battlfrnt 2
3 Counter-Strike
4 Splinter Cell Chaos
5 Fable
6 Conker: Live Reloaded
7 Star Wars: Battlefront
8 Doom 3
9 SW: KOTOR
10 SW: Republic Commando

The second biggest game is Battlefront 2. How big do you thing the communities still are for this or any of the other games on that list? Probably 15,000 people a week between the 8 games on this list. (as KotOR and Fable have no multiplayer) Xbox live has millions of users, have to make them happy over people who still play the older stuff.

Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if they release Halo 2 on the marketplace with matchmaking reinstated, but not ported by Bungie, like Halo 2 PC. It'd sell well, along with KotOR and a couple of other Xbox 1 classics they haven't put out yet for some reason.

I agree with you about pleasing the majority of the community. That is microsofts job and although i do not agree with the decision to pull the plug on original games, i understand there reason. What I and many other people are saying is that re-releasing halo 2 as a downloadable game that is compatible with the 360 and still has online multiplayer would be a win-win situation. Xbox live would continue to be able to further develop, and all the big fans of halo 2 such as myself would be happy. Not to mention microsoft would profit from this.

Now, finally, in 2010, I can finally play Halo 2 online like I've always wanted to since November of 2004.

Forget it, they're never going to do it. Not this generation at least...and when they do, halfway through the Xbox Phoenix's life cycle they'll take out the ability to BXR and RRX.

You know, the great thing about being a pessimist is you're always proven right...that or pleasantly surprised. I'm not holding my breath, Ima switching to Gears of War 2 now. Just because Halo 3 is like a frustrating and n00b friendly version of Halo 2 with crappier maps and I..no, not the blam! thing these forums do, I don't blam!ing hate Modern Warfare 2, I F-U-C-K-I-N-G HATE COD 6.

LIVE GT: Asian Inferno
Also go by: AsiansOnFire, SpartansOnFire, and Cad.

"Kat can't die! She has nine lives! =)" - Asian Inferno

Solution: LAN Party, New Game, or Halo 2 Vista. Your choice, prepare yourself soon though.

*One other options is to wait 5 years for an Arcade version of Halo and Halo 2 with new graphics and online multiplayer with support of new LIVE infrastructure (IE: Achievements), Like Perfect Dark, which took 10 years to be remade for a system other than it's original.

I fear that, if by some miracle Halo 2 is indeed released via arcade, all the glitches (BXR, BXB, RRX, superjumps, reload glitches, etc) will be fixed. I would hate that. I know they should be fixed, but they have been and ALWAYS will be part of the game. It's just how you play H2 nowadays, and it's accepted for the most part...

If somehow they could release a pure port of the original game, but with better graphics I would be 100% happy. I just could not see myself going back to Halo 2 without all these glitches that have been memorized in my head after all these years.

I can't wait to pay for something that I already have. Like someone else said, its probably gonna take ten years for a remake and then we can complain when they stop supporting the remake after a few years too. I'm looking forward to when microsoft decides to stop supporting xbox 360 games and DLC and I lose all my H3 maps, and all the other junk I waste microsoft points on. From now on its disc or gtfo

People would pay good money to download H2 for the XBL Arcade, and with over 4 thousand unique gamertags every 24hours it still has a bigger fan base than a lot of arcade titles.

  • 02.08.2010 2:37 AM PDT

Agreed. Bungie, please take the online play and make it an arcade game! Please! I would pay $25

You guys can't seriously support the idea of a release of H2 on arcade, and be willing to pay for it also. I just bought H2 used less then a year ago I'm not going to pay another $20 or 1600ms points again. Since my copy of H2 should still be supported because I give microsoft $8 a month to do so.

Why not stop by my File Share while you're here?

~Long Live Halo 2
Only regret is I didn't play more of it.

If you haven't noticed by now, I'm sort of a jerk.

On topic, this would be a good idea, I am with you.

lol?

Thats a good idea if it existed on the arcade portion of live it would use the 360 live system and you could still play it. The only thing is that it will cost you money even if you own it already. Or it could be really cheap or free to those who have halo 2 in their game history.
