Subject: Video Skips

I bought the game today, got it installed (on Windows 7 Professional 64bit btw). No errors or anything but the video jumps a lot ingame. Cutscenes are fine but Campaign and Multiplayer start to skip around. Probably graphics so I set them to low but that still doesn't help. I'm using a ATI HD3200, which is supposed to work at above the recommended requirements. I also defraged which didn't help at all Any help would be greatly appriecated.

Enable vsync in the game or in the ati card

Update your video card drivers.

Lower the screen resolution (on the in-game settings menu).

Ok, I updated the drivers to the current ones from ATI, The resolution is already set to 1024x768 (any lower is unbarrable), and it still skips around. How do you enable vsync on Halo 2 PC? I only saw a option for Anti-Aliasing

Grenades are like RAM, you can never have too much

the problem is the text rendering this isnt really fixable

50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

Turn down the settings. Or lower the resolution. The HD3200 isnt a good gpu.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

I only know how to do it for NVIDIA graphics, in the driver control panel. Does ATI have something like that? H2V disables vsync by default, so you have to find a way to force it. Though, if your GPU isn't that powerful, vsync will probably just make things worse.

I'll have to look at the CCC to see if I can change that, thanks for all the help guys. For some reason the game runs smooth now as long as there are less than 6 people in a match. I'll probably upgrade the GPU to a better one just to see if that helps.

I run a nvidia 220gt 1 gig and i only get skips on two maps. Warlock for some annoying reason
And that one city map for halo2 vista i run win 7. But yea ofc your gonna skip on that outdated card.

If its lags with more than 6 people its probably more than a gpu problem. Whats your cpu. if its less than 3ghz as an intel that would probably be the problem. If its Amd 2.5ghz and up should be good dual core atleast too intel make terrible chipsets for gaming i know my halo2 server is a 3ghz intel chip
my gaming rig is a amd dual core 2.6ghz

I'll try to remember what my specs are (i'm on a different pc right now) AMD Athlon II X4 @ 2.8ghz, 4gbbs DDR2, 320gb HD @ 7200rpm, ATI Radeon HD 3200. I'm running it at 1024x768 with no AA and everything else on low. Oddly enough campaign is running perfectly fine at these settings. The game skips the most (well on the maps that I have played) on Containment and sometimes its gets bad on District.

Oh and I'm running Win7 64bit Professional
