LadyRziha and I started an off-topic conversion in another thread about the growing animosity between halo and the arg (ilovebees). I've created a new topic.

Yes, apparently the ties between bungie games go all the way back to 'Pathways in Darkness', through 'Marathon', and into 'Halo'. there's no way a new arg player can pick that up that quickly, aside from accessing that info to solve a puzzle. ARG players might definitely need halo fans' help at some point.

It's kind of disturbing seeing both sides through the whole anagram thing. hbo bans 'bees', and argn are so disparaging of halo fans. I get the feeling that was not bungie's intent. And whether Louis Wu realizes it or not, the results of the arg are 'canon' to the halo story. Sorry, Louis, if you ever see this.

Well it did get way out of hand and Louis had the right. Even though there were a lot of posts most were junk. Everyone got so excited they posted everything they found.

PS hope someone joins....

Me, too. Hello, anybody out there?
No, you're completely right, he had the right. But I think he could post the most relevant (and only the most relevant) findings of the arg on the news. Some of the findings most related to the halo canon. I don't think he can just ignore such a large event clearly related to halo.
But that's nitpicking. I've been lurking there for years, and he does such a great job. It has to be one of the best halo fan sites (I have no knowledge of other ones).

True. If the forums are watched by someone, anyone you can weed out the repeates and prevent flames. Then we might be getting somewhere.

I'm kind of clueless, isn't that what moderators do? :) Maybe hbo needs a more full-time moderator. Because you're right, there was an awful lot of junk that day. I wanted info badly on ilovebees, and each post must have taken 5 min to load.

Perhaps on August 24th, Halo fans will appreciate ARG players more. Or, vice-versa....

I hope they are appreciated more. Bungie isn't the only one with ARG players and some really enjoy the challenge.

I'm saying:

Something significant happens (i.e. demo, early release)--> ARG players will be sure to shove it in Halo fans' faces

Nothing huge happens--> Halo fans will shove it in ARG players' faces

Either way, there's going to be a lot of shoving-it-in-people's-faces going on in these forums :) .

I'll agree with that. It could get as crazy as the first day of BEES.

arg - alternate reality game. If you're familiar with the interactive internet game leading up to the movie A.I., that's supposed to be the classic arg.
Flood, that's exactly what I'm talking about. Suddenly, the anagram has caused this schism between the two worlds. Two worlds, by the way, that tend towards the ...um, fanatical. :)

Right. Halo 2 certainly is... fanatical. I do think, though, that the I Love Bees website IS leading up to something big. It just doesn't seem right that Bungie would go to all the trouble in making a site as complex and as intricate as that, causing so many contraversies, while making both these worlds clash, and NOT have big intentions.

Well, that's actually what led me to my anagram solution. Something big, something broad (meaning appealing to the casual and nonfan). My thinking was
Not early release : too many people have seen the date in the trailer. Plus, that poor guy at MS had it tattooed on his arm.
Not mp demo : Sounded good at first, but I realized that they just started the beta. Not enough time to implement changes.
Leaving : single-player demo

everything else (more screenshots! new halo novel! something only arg-related) just didn't seem big enough to me.

I hope not. I like putting together the scrambled messages. So many possiblities... entire site could lead anywhere.

I think the most interesting thing is the text found within the pictures. However, another thing that has just caught my attention is a screenname that someone just acquired. They found it by looking up information on the person who created the hotmail account mentioned on the website. This AIM screenname is "unrippedzues7."

The person is putting up strange away messages every few minutes and will not respond to any messages that I send. I think that this is a very big step in solving the puzzle, if we can get some information from this guy.

I agree with you, anything on that site could lead to any possibilities. Its just everyone is so hyped up about halo 2 some people assume it has to be a demo or release of some sort, and i believe it could be anything. Only time can tell us what the truth is.
