Subject: I Prefer Halo ODST to the any other halo game!

I Will make a blog and review about ODST when i have finished the campaign i think i am close to completing it now, and ive got to say what a game. I wasn't going to get this game i heard a lot of people saying it was bad, and a lot of halo fans didn't like the new direction which. Because of that i felt there is no point in me getting this, but i found a good deal to get this game on the internet and bought it for cheap not thinking much of it. When i played it i was totally surprised how good this game is.

I love the new direction you have gone with this, imo i have never really got into the halo story line, i felt it was a bit far fetched with master chief being able to single handling wipe the whole convent out it was a more fantasy game. However now you have to be the humans, it has a realistic feel to the game, the atmosphere in the game is amazing and it does feel like you are there, i can imagine it now being there in that time. It feels like you can make a difference but you aren't invincible you are only human you are very vulnerable but with some heroic acts and intelligent moves you can win.

Now you have the game has a lot of strategy to it, there is more than just run and gun play mindlessly shooting everything, now you need tactics to get around enemeys, either through stealth or tactically taking out enemeys. I love it, best halo game i have played imo and i really hope the new halo reach has the same approach as this game does.

so how far you from beating the game?

I'm Aeromaster56 and I approve this message.

It took me one sitting to beat it on Heroic...

I really hope people who read this join SIP like I did and will finally be able to finish Endure, Annual or Deja Vu! I didn't regret joining in anyway shape or form so I hope you don't either!

I can't do hardly any of it myself...

I didn't like the game that much. Being an ODST with no shields and all the cool things master chief has is a nice break and all, but there's not much creativity after that.

I look at this game as a lazy bungie product which took them, what, less than a year to make, and it was still using Halo 3's engine. The campaign was also ridiculously short and normally I'd look past that if the multiplayer's alright, but there is no multiplayer, only firefight which is fun for maybe a game or 2 if you have 3 friends online willing to play. I guess it was a smart move to add the halo 3 multiplayer disk to the case otherwise it would definitely not be worth $60 but even that's pushing it. I already own halo 3 so I wouldn't want to spend another $60 to get a game with half of it being what I already have.

I guess Bungie understood that ODST was not a whole game completely, which is why they also added the Reach beta, but we'll see how that turns out.

I'm 23, I have a house, dog, girlfriend, job and I have no interest in any fanboyism so if you're thinking about sending me a childish PM, don't be surprised when I don't call back.

This was one of my big disappointments to be honest, Bungie said "Now that you're an ODST you can't just go in guns blazing"

That was lie, I charged through the campaign on Legendary no problem. Other than that though the game was OK, Not the worst but certainly not the best release of late.

Mythic Conquer # 23 baby
I've beaten ODST and Halo 3 on Mythic.

Agree with Judge, the game played just as if I played with a slightly weaker MC. Stamina replaced sheilds, I was slightly slower. Yet, I could still out gun the Covenant. Legendary solo was a piece of cake.

If it only took you one sitting, then you played for too long.

guys bungie wasn't lazy. they had like 1/3rd of their staff working on it for just a year. thats not a lot of people working for not a lot of time. get over it!!
I agree with the OP ODST is a really fun game.

Just completed the game, ive got to say its alot longer than i thought. It really is a solo expericaned game though. I played it on co op and i did 3 missions in 15mins which took me about 1hour and a bit on solo. its much easier co op kind of ruins the experiance. Anyway the campaign was great and now ive seen halo reach vid i love the direction bungie have took with halo. More about the humans and suvival than master cheif killing evreyone

"Dear Diary: Today I learned me some aliens about the relative foolishness of messing with the ODST's!"

I agree with the OP, ODST is my favourite Halo game as well. Ever since dropping onto Delta Halo with them, I've been obsessed with ODSTs (until I got recon, ODST was the only helmet I would wear in Halo 3 Multiplayer), and now they have their own game.

I'm glad people other than me also enjoy the game, it seems to be a rare thing.

Took me five hours solo Legendary, that's not a long time.

I think its a good game but I wouldn't call it better then the other Halo campaigns. The only campaign ODST beats is Halo 3's campaign IMO.

It's campaign is on par with CE in many ways and better than CE in several others. And small staff able to put out a game of that caliber in less than a year is not lazy in fact it is very much the opposite.

  • 02.17.2010 9:50 AM PDT

I thought ODST was mediocre at best. Indeed it was a short campaign. Here were my thoughts:

PROS-
*Scoped Mangum returns. [This alone makes the game worth getting]
*New multiplayer mode, Firefight. [I wanted this since CE]
*New storyline. It's good to see events through someone else's eyes
*Flashbacks are fun [NMPD HQ and second Dutch mission]
* No "Flood"
CONS-
*Short campaign.
*Mombassa Streets are boring.

Overall, 8/10 stars for me.

My all-time favorite was Halo: CE. The novelty of the game's debut, the scoped Magnum, and the Blood Gulch alone made it 10/10 for me. Loved it!

Looking to Reach as my second favorite game, though only time will tell.

Next step, Mythic!

I'd probably agree with the OP if i didn't pay $69.99 plus tax at bestbuy (I live in Canada)

It came out to almost $81.00, not worth it at all. I wish i just waited till now, but I thought the beta was going to be live as soon as I bought the game. People buying ODST now for like 20 bucks or whatever are getting a hell of a deal though.

  • 02.17.2010 2:54 PM PDT

man i am exited for Halo reach.. my favorite halo games are halo then halo 1 than halo 3.. If you need help on campiagn i'll help..

halo odst will be the last thing i would buy.....i would buy halo 3 if there no H3 then H2 if no H1 than i would buy odst

  • 02.17.2010 3:04 PM PDT

I am actually really pleased with ODST. Story was good, but a little short. But to make up for that firefight has lasted me several hours. Got 1000G in it but i still play it for fun.

And on top of all that i got a replacement for my Halo 3 disk with all the maps.

I don't see why everyone is complaining. £30 wasn't that much.

8 outa 10 isnt mediocre and the cons are minor so if you are a closet fanboy why act like your a hater?
