"How did Halo 2 change gaming? It did nothing new or revolutionary."
The naivety of this post astonishes me.
Name one on-line console game that came before this that broke so much ground.
Without Halo 2 the Xbox Live service and the current generation of Xbox Live would not exist today.
This is not a debate. You owe everything live is today to this game and don't know how lucky you are that Sony does not rule the Console wars of today.
You are the perfect example of the Xbox Live community of today. Ignorant montage kids whose only goal on live is to insult others. Halo 3 and its community are nothing in comparison to the passion, excitement and fun that Halo 2 brought to the online console world.
Does it really matter what it did for consoles? No. Why? Simple, it was done years before on the PC. Been there, done that. If you want to be remembered for being revolutionary you better set the bar for ALL gaming platforms. Saying that without Halo 2 the Xbox Live service would not exist today is EXTREMELY stupid. Do you have any hard evidence of this? No, you don't.
It IS debatable. Again, your statement is an opinion and you can't back it up with factual evidence.
>implying I'm a montage kid
>implying I'm a kid at all
It doesn't matter. It doesn't have to revolutionize all platforms. New systems come and go, but a game that sets the standard for all games to follow is an accomplishment to be recognized. Some people prefer PC's, some people prefer Consoles, it doesn't matter.
The matchmaking features, fast gameplay, numerous gametypes, friends list, party, and many other features that you see today are happening solely because of what Halo 2 did. Stop thinking the only thing that matters is a keyboard and a mouse, a lot of players prefer the controller.
The PC has been around way longer, obviously it's going to have the 'first' of most things, which is why you cannot compare Xbox to PC gaming when talking about firsts, there are many 'firsts'.
