I tried clearing my hdd cache as well as deleting extra profiles. Every time I boot up halo 2 and select xbox live I am directed to an old school looking xbox screen saying an update is being applied to xbox live, which fails after about 5-10 seconds and then reboots the game. I do not have the extra maps yet, I would imagine I need to get past this screen before I can get to those.

Thanks

Can you play online with other games, such as H2?
Did you check Fam settings?
Did you delete any H2 maps that you might have?

Do you mean Halo 3? If so yes
yes, those are fine
yes, deleted anything related to halo 2 beforehand

You have to keep trying, there's no alternatives at this point. Clear the cache one more time, then turn off the box and unplug all the cables. Then plug everything back in and reboot and try for the update one more time.

The only other possibility I can think of is maybe a firewall block of the update from your router. If you have a router, just plug the 360 cat5 directly into your modem and see if the update goes in.

You can try the steps listed here. If all else fails, there is always Microsoft support, they might be able to help.
