Just because you have cable, it's not a sure thing it isn't your connection. In some of the other posts you'll find links to sites that test your upstream and downstream connection speed. Both are important. I did not switch to cable from dsl because the upstream speed was much slower than my dsl upstream speed. Also, cable gets slower when more users in your area are online at the same time– it's like a party line. Do you get a better connection when it's "off peak" time?
how right you are. cable companies are relying on the fact that very few people will pay for cable to have enough super-fast bandwidth for everyone, so they make it like a shared connection. DSL is more of a dedicated line, you will get the speed even if every DSL user is online.
The main thing to blame for online lag in halo is the bad netcode they made. Unless you are a very good hacker, you can't do anything about that. Just learn to cope with the lag; you might even become unstoppable when you play a lag free game from the practice.
